:wave2: I was wondering if the Fantasmic Dinner Package is worth doing? We are planning to go in the summer. If so, what is the best time for a PS? And which restaurant is the best choice for young children, one who is a picky eater?

Hi Honeydog,

In the summer I'd recommend it. Hollywood and Vine is probably the best choice for picky eaters. When making a PS you probably won't have many choices for the package, they are usually on the early side.

I suggest you do a search of this forum, there are several other threads going that will give you more info.

Good luck!

Bob

We go in the summer every year and I wouldn't do Fantasmic without a PS, not with three small children. We didn't really care fo H&V although we might have had a bad night. THe kids enjoy both Mama Melrose's and the Brown Derby - both have kids menus.

We just tried the Fantasmic Dinner Pkg at Hollywood and Vine (mostly b/c it was the least expensive of the three choices) and found it to be a good deal, if you're planning to do a sit-down that day anyway. We got a 5:30 PS. They had basic food for kids, (ckn nuggets, hot dogs, mac and cheese) and kids could eat from the adult buffet too, which included a variety of foods (check allearsnet for more specifics). My kids got fruit salad off the adult buffet. I remember eating a good seafood pasta type dish, a cucumber salad type dish and bbq chicken. I know they had more than that for adults too. They open the doors for Fantasmic pkg guests (at Oscars in front of park by stroller rental) from 6:30-8. We got there at 7:55 and practically had the pick of the reserved seating. By 8:05 it was pretty packed though... we seemed to be just ahead of the pack. Once we got our seats, dh and I alternated taking kids to the bathroom near the snack and souvie area of the amphitheatre and by then there was only about 10 mins left to wait. We'll do it again next time for sure!!!

Question, do you have to eat at a dinner time 5,6, 7 issh or can you choose to eat at 4 and still get the package? And does it need to be prepaid?

We were there at the end of June and did the Fantasmic Package. We had our PS at 4:30 at Mama Melrose. We really liked having it early. Around lunch time we just had a small snack and we were glad we did. It was so much food. It was very good though. It was nice to do a few more rides before Fantasmic started. We have done Hollywood and Vine too but we liked Mama Melrose better. Just personal preference, we had no problem with the food or service at either place.

I went to see Fantasmic last summer at the later or second showing of it and i did not need to do the package. The second presentation usually has less crowds so there are plenty of seats. Depends if you want to eat or just see the show .

We were there in Sept. last year in between all the hurricanes. All the parks were really empty but we did a PS for the dinner/show at MM's anyway and I'm glad we did. Fantasmic is shown only once a day at that time of year and it was standing room only. I don't know how long people had to wait at the main line, but we did a PS for 3:30 at Mama's, went back to our room to relax a bit and then went back to see the show. We showed up at the time they told us, just as they were letting the reserved group enter. We walked right in and got a great seat, no waiting at all!

Makes me glad I got a Fantasmic Dinner Package :goodvibes :wizard: :wave2:

The only thing that is stopping me from booking this is that if Fantasmic is rained out, you don't get a raincheck - you're just out of luck. Cancellation has to be done 48 hours in advance and, knowing Florida storms, I'm just not ready to gamble that on a meal I wouldn't ordinarily have eaten.

Since I wouldn't book any of those three restaurants otherwise (we prefer to do our TS restaurants on our non-park days), we're not going to do it. I hope we don't regret it!

For more info on the Fastasmic dinner package, see http://allearsnet.com/din/fantdin1.htm.

I think the Fantasmic Dinner Package is well worth it. We have a 6:30 PS at Mama Melrose for April 25.

We have 3 young kids in our party (6, 4, & 21 months) so waiting in a line for an hour or more is not an ideal situation.

I really liked the price for the meal & what is included for it. Plus not having to wait to get into the theater is a big plus for us!

We've always done the FDP, but this time we're going to try it without it. I don't know what we're doing on what day/night yet, so I can't plan on it quite yet. I do know that I wont' miss Fantasmic though. Its one of my favorite things about WDW. Hopefully we'll catch a 10:30 show if the 9 one looks way too crowded.
