Just wondering what the exchange rates are like when changing english money to dollars and do the hotel do this?It is my dd bithday while we are there and I know she is going to get money in her cards.I have asked people to get her dollars so I can change to Disney dollars for her but for people that don't see her that often will put money in her card.Would it be best for me to use a ccard or change her money here(that means openeing her cards):confused3 .

I have never seen exchanges in US, but I have not gone looking, I am sure they are there. We just exchange it for DS and keep the £'s. I would think swapping £50 or however much birthday money would not get a great rate, maybe fees? I had to swap £10 in Amsterdam Airport last year and it cost me £4 in fees.

As Wayneg says you don't see many exchange places over there. I think I may have seen one in Florida Mall but you will have charges to contend with so the exchange rate will probably not end up that good.

I think you would be better to exchange some for her before you go and keep the £'s :thumbsup2

Hi,
The customer service counter at the Premimum Outlet mall (in the food court) has currency exchange but the rate is very poor. I think your best bet would be getting $'s before you go.

Mick.

Your best to take $$ or $$ Traveller's Cheques or use a debit card to get cash from ATMs (best to make a few large withdrawals rather than a lot of little ones to avoid to many charges).

As others have said, it's not easy to change foriegn currency in the US.

DH and I had a few wonderful days in NYC this Feb. For my birthday and Christmas gifts I asked people to give me USD rather than gifts or sterling. It worked out ver well. I shall be doing the same this year in preparation for WDW :)

I thought they might put charges on ,so to avoid any dissruption to our holiday I will just take some extra dollars and change them into DDollars for her and we can put the english dosh into her account:scared1: I can't take her money off
Thanks for the advice guys:thumbsup2

What age is your daughter? Our stepkids get birthday cards of one of their aunts for al of them as she does not see them very often, I opened the cards, carefully, changed the 3 to $ and closed them again and put a little glue on the envelope or sellotape. To be honest as the years has wemt on they have been amazed that their aunt had know to get $ and never even noticed the envelopes were tampered wwih lol

We also gave them $ and so did some of our family. It's a really good idea and next year as they are going to Spain with their mum we will do the same with their aunts cards , get them euros. then we will also give them euros. every little helps lol

Crabbie I know what you mean about tkaing the money off her lol My eldest daughter said she would pay half her ticket to WDW as she was not really supposed to be going as she ahd been twice and stepkids had neve ben before , she paid £400 to me, then I bought her themepark tickets and gave her £10 per week towards her spending money since last September . I also bought her clothes lol I think she got a good deal :rolleyes1

Yes Kids do have a way of weadling the money back from you.I am going to do what you have suggested and open her cards and seal them back up with Disney dollars inside that way she will be excited to get her own special disney money. She will be 5 when we are there.I think you have more or less paid for your daughters trip:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Thanks for the advice
