With the slow down in economy we are starting to rethink your up coming trips.I’m seeing more and more TT and MH for sale in my TT storage area. There is a brand new MH that still has it paper license tag on it is now for sale. Can any one tell me is FW starting to see a slow down?

We are still going (heck, only a 1 1/2 weeks away now!). What I AM seeing a lot recently, and I don't know if it is only because we are going to DW, is advertisements for Disney World and Fort Wilderness! I seem to be seeing ads constantly recently, especially on the internet.

We are still going this year - heck, the office is slow, insurance companies are digging in their heals and not paying anyway, so I might as well close for a couple of weeks and hopefully things will at least stop going downhill. Plus the gas prices came down some, so fuel is less of an issue than it was a month ago. Next year, though, may be another matter.

We are suppose to be that the Fort in the beginning of December, but I am having serious second thoughts. My husband has vacation time, but I don't. My job said I could go, but I don't know if I can miss the pay right now. The price of the trip and the loss of pay is more than I am willing to do right now.

Have you looked at the GA gas prices on GasBuddy.com. It's going to cost me a fortune to drive through that state next week.

They are starting to come down...thankfully Yesterday, i think they dropped about 10cents.

Just not fast enough!

We were just at the Fort this past weekend. We stayed on the 500 loop and there were 4 or 5 empty sites on Friday night. That seemed unusual for a weekend when the weather is great and the Food and Wine Festival is happening. Combine that with one loop (700 I think) being closed for renovation and there was another loop (1600) that didn't have a single site occupied. It might be closed for renovations but there were no signs up and there didn't appear to be any work happening.

Fortuneately, my stretch thru GA is not too long and I should be able to fill up in SC and make it to Florida without having to gas up in GA. Coming from Ohio, I'm guessing you may have a much longer stretch to get thru if you aren't coming down 95 like I am.

We are still planning on going. Just hope everyone else stays home shorter lines:lmao:

I'm not changing any plans - it's already paid for except for $141 for the rental car.

We are booked for June 2009, but we just talked about it over the past week, and if things get worse and don't start turning around by then, we may have to consider cancelling. We already have purchased our 10 day hopper tickets so we know we can make arrangements later on if we need to.

No as far as plans and can't speak for activity now at FW.

We are looking at cutting our 2 day weekend trips every other weekend to save money for more 5-7 day trips to FW over the next years.

We don't have our next Fort trip planned yet. We're hoping we'll still be able to keep them up!

We are carpooling or would that be rvpooling. Parents are driving their RV and pulling DB pop up and splitting the gas. Sis and us are coming in their RV and splitting gas. We will not miss this trip. We have too much to be grateful for after the last 2 years. We have to celebrate at Disney!

No, the economy is not making us change our plans. But my upcoming knee surgery is! DH doesn't want to have to push me around in a wheelchair for a week, and I don't blame him.

Get a ecv. My sister broke her foot going in our parents TT while at FW. So she called a outside rental company and they delivered the ecv right to the site. Don't give up on Disney due to injury just rent the ecv it will be fine. My dad is disabled and has to spend every day in a ecv. But we still get him all over disney. Just saying don't give up.:thumbsup2

Nope, the economy is actually the reason we are taking the trip to FW. We have all the park tickets paid for. We already paid large downpayments on stays at CBR and AKL. We got a great deal on a new TT and an excellent trade in on the pop-up and our payments are less to boot. It was a no-brainer to "downgrade" to FW. We applied our downpayments to the new ressie at the Fort and now will easily pay off the site way before the trip. Even with the cost of gas, the trip will be about $3,000 less driving down with the camper then our original plan and we still get 15 nights at WDW (with a side trip to US/IOA) and we got a new TT to use for our usual weekend camping trips, not to mention all the roadtrips we now are planning!
