is the disney welcome sign lit up at night? other flight questions??

I Know, sounds like dumb question.. but flying out of upstate ny... flight leaves bradley in ct at 5:55pm and says will land at 8:45. I figure it will be dark while we on magical express.. I want to see my DD face when she sees the disney sign for the first time..im not sure where or what rd this sign is at but its the main sign w/mickey and miney on each side...round trip for 4 out of bradley(about 2.5 hr drive for me) is $978.40... i can also fly out of newburgh(2.5 hr drive from me) for $1062.40 and flight lands in orlando at 3:00pm..not sure its worth it for 84.00 more plus more expensive parking at newburgh..other option is the early flight from bradley is $1038.40 and that lands in orlando at 1:45pm...i might choose this option here.. but im doing a room only the first day at all star movies.. not sure there is enough to do at resort for the first fill day there or am i wrong? first day is room only, then second day we have tickets and dining plan...figure if flight lands orlando 1:45 we should be at resort around 3pm... is there enough to do there to hold us over? also makes sense to fly from albany as thats only 40 minutes from me, but sw out of albany is 1295.00...too expensive..

I'm pretty sure that the sign is lit up at night. Not sure how old your daughter is. It's probably about 30 minutes on the bus before crossing onto property, so she might fall asleep on the bus at that time of night?

If you chose to arrive earlier in the day, there are lots of non-park things to do on that first day. Mini-Golf, Downtown Disney, visiting some of the other resorts (specifically the Boardwalk). It might be nice to arrive earlier that day and ease into vacation time. Have a little relaxation before running all over the parks during the rest of your trip.

Showing up earlier also means more opportunity to spend money, so you should probably keep that in mind as well! Higher airfare, more expensive parking, extra meals/shopping/etc. There's an argument to be made either way!

We've rolled in at midnight before, and yes the sign is lit late at night.

I believe the welcome sign is illuminated all night from sundown till sunrise. Not sure how great a view you'll have of it from the ME bus, however.
