I think it was time for his departure and clearly he didn't fit into the reorganized management structure. Hopeful for a return to quality and the "Disney difference" that I bought into. That's not to say I'm dissatisfied with DVC, it's only to say that it was higher at one time and could be again.

Until we see who will replace him - and what their "vision" is for DVC, there's no way to know.

I had to choose "no idea." As a fairly new member (we purchased last October) who has not yet had our first DVC stay, we can not comment on anything.

I expect that in 6 months all those cheerleaders who are SO happy he is gone will be screaming for the removal of the replacement.

DVC is about where the rest of Disney is right now and expecting a big "change" is probably unrealistic.

I think so. Apart from the '05 member cruise, during which he was cordial and seemed to be approachable, we only saw him again 2-3 years later in Vero Beach. Since I figure that most visitors to VB are DVC members, as I passed him on the steps I smiled and said "hello" and expected a reply, at least. He pointedly looked the other way. I have not had a good opinion of him since then.

Nobody knows until a replacement is in place and we see what they do. We could all be wishing JL was back next year when some new policies come out that we don't like.

While I would love to have voted YES, I voted no idea because I agree, only time will tell. I sure hope so though.

I'm guessing if the poll was "Are you happy Jim Lewis was fired" it would be a different result :)

I think "only time will tell" is a cop out. Using that mind set we should never change anything in life. We should never try to better ourselves with a new job because hey, the new one might not be great. We should always vote in our incumbent politicians because the new guy could be worse.

It's always a good thing to get rid of a bum.

I will know better in 6 months to a year. I voted 'no idea'. I believe in the old adage "be careful what you ask for, you may get it"...smjj

I voted yes because you can't have any change until there is a different mindset. We don't know if the "change", if any will be good or bad but not doing anything will not accomplish anything.

Way to early to tell...lets just say the grass is not always greener on the other side.

I voted 'no idea'....but, do I think Jim Lewis was a good fit with/for DVC? Nope. I'm glad he is gone. BUT....do I think his replacement is going to be better? Doubt it. I just can't see much really good coming from it. I doubt we'll see much in the way of quality change to the resorts. It is sure to be the same old, same old.
But, maybe I'm wrong. Hope so.

For those that are worried about the new person in charge...

Remember that Lewis' canning will help set the tone for what will be expected going forward. Not sure why they would put the same leadership style in his place.
The new person can get canned just as easy.

Don't know yet. I don't have all of the facts nor do I know what the future holds. To quote Doc...."stay tuned".

DVC's focus under Jim Lewis was to build and sell cheap accommodations to the" fanatics who will buy anything" and then to ignore them.

Is his departure a good thing? Yea, I think so.
