Is the current Air Miles redemption worth it - 4500 AM for 7 day base WDW tix?

Is 4500 AM for 7 day base WDW tix worth it? Early in the year during the last Cdn ticket promo, we earned enough Air Miles to redeem for a 7 day base ticket. We now have enough to redeem for another 7 day base ticket but are debating whether it would be worth it to do this now. This would be for some trip in a few years - no real plans to use this ticket anytime soon. We have also invested in other tickets before the expiry thing started and also have a set of 10 day tickets.

The main reason I was thinking of snagging it now is because of the Canadian discount. That said, the ticket works out to about CAD$450 worth of Air Miles, which is about what it costs out of pocket. Still, the current 7 day base ticket I am currently holding would be more useful if I had at least one more ticket to go with it.

Debating whether I should jump on this and redeem ASAP or hang in there and wait for other possible deals in the future. One consideration I have is that we have the BMO World Elite which gives us a free companion flight rebate. It's an interesting offer. We pay with AM for both tickets and then the AM for one ticket gets rebated back to our account. If we don't get this Disney offer, we should have about 9000 or so AM available to take advantage of this.

Current Canadian offer tickets have an expiry date of Dec 31, 2018 so if you aren't planning on going in 2018 I would hold off getting a ticket. All discounts will be lost when you go to apply the value of the ticket to a new ticket when you do go. There will be other offers in the future closer to your planned travel time. Hold off for now would be my advice.

Oh GREAT point! I'll hold out until we're going to use them for sure then. This whole expiring tickets thing stinks.

Oh well, I'm not hugely happy about the devaluation of AM in relation to Disney tickets anyway. Gotta find a new reason to collect Air Miles!
