Is the Brown Derby Always this Loud?

OK I've just got to vent...

I was really looking forward to our first visit to the Brown Derby tonight for dinner, but it turned out to be our worst dining experience. What a waste of dining credits tonight was.

We were seated next to a group of 28 adults and kids and the sad part was the kids were better behaved than the adults. The group was so loud (screaming, yelling, whooping it up and clapping) that their kids were covering their ears and some were walking over to the adults and asking them to sit and quiet down. :headache::headache::headache:

I couldn't believe the CMs didn't do anything about it even after several tables complained. A few people even walked out without eating. :confused3

I come from a large extended family and I'm all for having a good time, but why would you take a group that large to the Brown Derby and make everyone else's meal miserable?

I'm so sorry that happened. Ugh....

I was looking forward to eating at the Brown Derby for the first time this past week, but we gave up our ADR to do something else instead.

Situations like you mentioned really grate on me....sorry again.

Last time my family and I went, it was pretty loud. That was in 2005. we never went there again :rotfl:

We ate there on our honeymoon and they put us in the Bamboo Room which is a small dining room in the back of the main dining room. It's much quieter there and the ambience is different. This made all the difference to us for our dinner, and we loved the Brown Derby. We'd definitely return - but we'd definitely ask for the Bamboo Room again!

Timing is everything. I have been there several times and I did not have any issues with noise. We had a great experience. YUMMY.

How many tables are inside the Bamboo Room? Do you have to request the room when making the ADR?

Such a shame your evening was spolit by the actions of people who SHOULD know better :headache:

The CMs should have talked to the group and got them to be quiet.

I am going to the Brown Derby in a couple of weeks. Hope their lunch menu is good. We have a wheat and nut allergy child, another one who isn't allowed dairy and a vegetarian in our party, so it should be interesting.

In my experience, the BD is always loud. I think it is just the acoustics (high ceilings and tile floors) of the restaurant. If I had experienced sitting next to that table of 28 unruly patrons, I too would have been ticked. There is no excuse that this was allowed to go on and disrupt the dining of other guests.

The Bamboo Room has about 8 tables in it, and if I remember correctly, they were all 4 top tables. We didn't request it, but after we were seated, the hostess came by and said "worth the wait to be back here, isn't it?" which made us wonder if she tagged us for the room since we were on our honeymoon. I'm not sure if you can request it or not, but I'm sure it's worth a try.

We ate there for lunch and it was really empty. This was early August 2008. I thought it was kind of a boring atmosphere and boring food and didn't want to eat there again. This is probably due to personal immaturity, though; husband got the Cobb Salad and liked it just fine. Me? Take me to Liberty Tree Tavern so I can meet characters, darn it! :)

Sorry for your ruined meal. That would have frustrated me too, and I also come from a large family. You can be a big group and have fun without being inconsiderate.
