Is The Boardwalk area fun for families in the evening?

We've never been to The Boardwalk in the evening. Is it worth strolling around with the kids? If so, what would you do there?

We love going to the Boardwalk. It's just a nice relaxing place to go and stroll around. There are places to eat and shop. At night we have seen face painters, hair braiders, jugglers (I think he was a magician also). The kids can run and goof off while you leisurely walk behind.

I don't know where you are from, but we have a boardwalk here in Ocean City, Maryland and it's a mad house. The boardwalk in WDW is nothing - not even close - to being a mad house.

We had a wonderful evening with our family at Boardwalk. It is very quaint and we all rented surrey bikes and had ice cream. While we were riding bikes the fireworks from Epcot went off and we could see them. We loved it and it is one of our best memories from our first trip to WDW. At the time my boys were 3 and 6 and our cousins brought their girls 11 and 13.

Watch out for the birds!!! We checked in early to the Dolphin a couple of years ago, and waited on the Boardwalk for the room to be ready. We were the only ones there and the birds were really aggressive! I had to fight a seagull off DD fries. We love the BW though. The surrey bikes are fun. The one man band is great and you can also see some of Illuminations from there. My favorite resort area (I think)

The street entertainers are a lot of fun and include the kids in their acts in a really fun way. It is all very clean, wholesome entertainment. I was pulled into a magic act once as the magician's assistant and he didn't embarrass me at all.
