could someone tell me if in the start of the DDP a good time to go to the parks? Is it packed or is it empty? thank you all.

Hi Daisy... IMO, anytime to go during the DDP is a great time to go.. August is very hot and humid and usually crowded but like I said... anytime on the DDP is worth it because your getting free dining, I dont think u can go wrong.

Do you mean start of Free dining?

I am booked for the first week (8/13-8/20) and it is very, very crowded. I had to add a room to our Pop Century reservation and I had to call about 3 days in a row for a room to come available. Have you checked availability yet?

I hope it's not too bad. This was they only week during free dining that we could go. 8-13 to 8-18. I'm hoping the heat will keep a few people away. :goodvibes

Daisy: I'm glad that you were able to find availability. We had problems at Pop Century and All Star Movies but AS Sports and Music were open. My sister's family cannot afford to stay at a more expensive resort.

Just so you know, the characters will not sign her shirt if she is wearing it. If you want to have a shirt signed, bring a clipboard so they have something hard to write on.

BTW, It's really hard to read what you write when you use ALL CAPS and no punctuation. Some people feel they are being SHOUTED AT when someone writes in ALL CAPS.

thank you, i'm not realy good at this, will thay sign a atuo book? i realy dont want to cary around a clip bord. i maid res at all music resort. im glad you found a room :) dose the park have a lot of shade, i under stand that it is very hot in aug. thank you agin.

Yes, it is very hot in August! Very, very hot! I would recommend that you carry a Misty Mate mister or buy a water spraying fan with you to keep cool(er). All the characters will sign an autograph book. Some, like Buzz Lightyear, will use a stamp since he can't hold a pen in his hand. You can buy one at WDW when you get there or you can bring your own. Also, make sure you stop at guest services to get a birthday button for your DD!

Oh yes, the Cast Members notice the pin :). Many of them will say "happy birthday" to the wearer.

ya like the 13 to the end of the month because thats when we are going   :goodvibes

We will be there the 15-25... How cool for your DD... I had my 16th there too!!! and going this year for my 30th!!

:welcome: and :bday: to your daughter (I know it's a bit early)

Make sure your daughter wears the button EVERYWHERE...and when you go to a meal let your server know in case she / he doesn't notice the button because most of the places (the sit down restaurants) will do a little something special. It's SOOOO fun having a birthday at WDW....I can't wait to have mine in September.

My first trip to WDW was last year in August. We were there from the 18-25th. Also, I live about 1 1/2 hours from WDW (on the Space Coast).

1. You can buy the mister fan bottles at Walmart a whole lot cheaper than you can at WDW.
2. Wear comfortable shoes and comfortable clothes.
3. Carry as little as possible.
4. Do an outside activity then do an inside activity....especially that time of year. That way it gives you a chance to cool off.
5. Take advantage of early Extra Magic Hours (it's the 'cool' of the day).
6. Drink plenty of water.
7. Don't RUSH.
8. Don't forget rain ponchos...it's the 'wet' season. The WDW ones are fun, they have Mickey on the back and you can see through them (about $6). Walmart also has regular rain ponchos (about $5). Both the WDW and Walmart brand ones are pretty durable. The dollar store brands is great if you buy several because I guarantee you they will tear. But then after it rains I guess you can just rip it off and throw it away. With the Mickey and Walmart brand I would carry some paper towels and wipe them off before putting them away.
9. Don't forget to carry at least 1 gallon size freezer ziploc bag (the freezer one is more durable). That way you have something water proof to put your valuables in (ie..camera, cell phone, etc) if you are caught in a down pour or you go on a water ride.
10. Have patience. Everyone else there is also in a hurry to 'see all and do all' just like you. I guarantee .... the rides and shows aren't going anywhere. USE THE FASTPASS SYSTEM when you can.

and above all else.....
