I have a reservation for the BB for the 24th @ 5pm, but I read so many so so reviews. I LOVE the smell, and the feel I get when I'm in there ( it's been 10 years:scared1: )
Is it worth it? Would I be better off spending $100.00 on food somewhere else?

In my opinion, it's very much worth it. I cannot, absolutely cannot, imagine a trip to DLR without eating at BB. The atmosphere is just something that you wont get anywhere else and I have yet to have a bad experience there between the service and the food and getting the waterside table that I requested.

I've had awesome chicken, just okay chicken, and a pretty good steak there. While in a normal restaurant I wouldn't pay what BB charges, the atmosphere can't be beat. As long as you prepare yourself going in, and realize it isn't about the food so much as the atmosphere and experience, you won't be disappointed.

Also, I've never had a bad meal or service there. Are there places at DLR with better, lower priced food? Sure. Does anywhere else (besides Club 33) have quite as an amazing setting? Not in my opinion.

Make sure you ask for a waterside table when you check in :goodvibes

Hey, I know I am going to sound silly but what is "BB"...is it "Brea Bakery"?

I know once you tell me I will go "DOH"!

35 days to our DLR Christmas trip! :santa:

Whether it's worth depends on what is important to you. Is the the food "worth it"? - Probably not. I think it is expensive for average food. I DO think it is worth it for the experience of dining there, especially if you get a waterside table. It is such a special restaurant. It sounds like you've been there before and it is just as lovely as it ever was.

Thanks everybody! I enjoyed hearing your thoughts. I agree it's not so much about the food, but the atmosphere!
Yes, I've there 5 or 6 times in my 37 year history at DLR.
I started going at 3, now I'm almost 40! Yikes!:scared1::scared1::scared1:

I'm looking forward to the Monte Cristo sandwich when we go in April...I hope it's still on the menu! That sandwich was worth every penny but really could be split by two people- it was huge!---Kathy

Mmmmm...I've only been to BB once (mostly cuz of budget) and had the Monte Cristo...so good! I did split it with someone though, it WAS huge!:)

Just be aware that the Monte Cristo sandwich is only available for lunch at Blue Bayou, that is, before 4:00 in the afternoon.

Yes, it's worth it to go at least once. The ambiance is great. However, the bill at the end of the meal is always a bit shocking--not unexpected though. My DH always has the montecristo which he loves, and I always get the jambalaya, which is so-so, and the kids got the kiddie meals which was also so-so. However, we've stopped going for about 5 years now, because each time we went, the food (with the exception of the montecristo) seems to deteriorate a little bit. We've switched over to Cafe Orleans, which shares a kitchen with BB, and the bill is so much less. Really love Cafe Orleans, and they also have the montecristo.

I get horrible service every time I go there and last time they said they couldn't find my reservation. But... I always go back because I love that place.

When I take over the world, the first thing I'm going to do is arrange for one of the boats to be fitted with a mattress so I can sleep all night while going through the ride. I'm also working on a POTC mens scent spray!

You can get the Monte Cristo a lot cheaper at Cafe Orleans. I don't know why people pay more to get it at BB instead of ordering an exclusive dish. :confused3

I don't care for the Monte Cristo ( Gasp )
;););)
I love the idea of a BB perfume though!:rotfl:

Because (a) you're eating at BB with the pirate boats floating by, and (b) you don't get just the sandwich but the entire meal including salad and sides. I will add a (c) just for myself: I don't like Cafe Orleans at all.

I personally love BB. I never order a whole meal for myself, though, because it's way too much food for me. I love splitting a surf n turf. My 3 dds and I all share 1 MC because it is so much food (and so rich!!!). I try not to think too much about what I'm consuming as I eat it, but it helps to only be eating 1/4 of the thing.

Because we do a lot of splitting and don't order drinks, our bill is rarely more than we'd pay most places in DLR and the food & atmosphere are a lot better.

I'll say our last trip there that our meal at BB was the best we had the entire stay. I had the steak and dd had the chicken from the kid's menu... it was incredibly good.

I caved after reading this thread and made reservations for our trip this month lol. I just love the ambiance! First seating on the 18th!

Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans each have their own kitchen. I've been in both.

I just had lunch there this past Saturday. We had a table near the kitchen but the atmosphere was still great! We got the Monte Cristo and paid the $12.00 to split it. I got the salad and my friend got the soup. We both received the full sides of potatoes and veggies. It was more than enough to eat! The bill came to $50.00 including the tip! I'd say that it was worth the $25.00. We did not get dessert because we wanted to get that elsewhere in the park.
