Is Thanksgiving week a high-demand or low-demand DVC time? -- Success UPDATED Post #1

Is Thanksgiving high-demand or low-demand at BWV?

  • Thanksgiving Sunday - Friday is DVC/BWV high-demand

  • Thanksgiving Sunday - Friday is DVC/BWV low-demand

  • It doesn't matter; it's all a craps shoot these days.

  • Other, please explain.

Part of me thinks that since non-members flock to WDW during Thanksgiving week then the wise DVC members stay away.

Then the other part of me says that, member or not, everyone comes to WDW during Thanksgiving.

Who's right?

I need to know because on 12/24/07 I have to begin booking four 2br and one 1br day by day for Thanksgiving '08. :scared: (Sunday - Friday at BWV)

Stand by for poll.

UPDATE 12/30/07

Just in case anyone was wondering, I was able to book four 2BR (SV) and one 1BR (SV) at the BWV by calling day-by-day. I started at 9:00 am on Christmas Eve and finished on Friday, December 28. 22 of us check in 11/23/08 for 5 nights.

On my first call the CM said, "OK. This is a big trip. Hold on while I grab the villas before we enter any details." I thought that was nice of him. And, in the 60 seconds (or so) it took him to grab the villas, a lot of other reservations were also occurring. Our first villa res # ends in 8060 and the fifth ends in 8088. That's 28 reservations in one minute. May not be a lot to you, but seemed busy to me.

I panicked on Friday when I forgot to call at 9:00 am. I finally did at 10:30 am and the CM had enough inventory, but said only two 1BRs remained after mine. WHEW.:scared:

Well, at least it's done. Now we can plan.:woohoo:

I have no idea, but Pixie Dust for you to get what you want!:wizard:

so high demand

low points - great time to go with kids on holiday = high demand.

remember on Wed, thurs and Fri - are the higher points - then they are only spring break and summer.

so you get 3 days at low points, then 2 days at high points - so for a holiday week it is a great deal.

if you are trying for a standard view anything at BWV - be prepared to call day by day early that morning each and every day.

those things go really fast for Thanksgiving

might add value season at AKV - since it will be nicely decorated and is a fun place

Many BWV owners do book Thanksgiving week as soon as the 11 month window opens. In my experience, there is generally little to no availability by the time the 7 month window opens.

Unless you want standard view or guaranteed Boardwalk view units, you don't need to call day by day. If you do want SV or BW view, you do need to call day by day - especially since you want so many units. Good luck!

There are lots of members who have school age kids, so they go whenever the kids are out of school. That means holidays and summer. Smart or not, that's when we need to go. Those who can pick and choose when they go probably do skip the holidays because of the crowds.

I guess I am not sure why you set this up as a poll? This isn't an opinion question, it is one of fact (or at least trends).

In any case, the time you are looking at is high demand. Hope this helps.

I would wake up early and call day by day. I would even go so far as to say there is only one of you in the room to not waste time filling in all the details.. Then on the last day give them the names of everyone in the room

I called a few days late for Thanksgiving this year and ended up waitlisted for a 2bdrm standard view at BWV. It did come through but I would definitely suggest calling day by day.

Thanks for the input, everyone. Yes, I am calling day by day, first thing in the morning. In order to save points, I need to get all SV.

Excellent! I'm a data junky. Would you please tell me where I can access the facts (or trends)?

SUCCESS! I got all the villas I need. More info in updated OP.:cool1: :yay: :woohoo:

Wish I had read this thread sooner... :headache:

I called today for my standard studio at BWV for the Sunday - Wednesday before Thanksgiving 2008, but Wednesday night was unavailable. Darn it! I am waitlisted for that day and in a preferred for the the time being.

Anyone want to venture a guess as to whether/when the waitlist might come through? :confused3
