Is Thanksgiving a good time to go?

We have been going the last week of September the last few years, but this year I just cannot take the kids out of school for a week. So, since our school has an extended Thanksgiving break, I was wondering if that was a good time. What are the crowds like, is it warm enough to swim, is everything operating, etc. ANY information you can give me about that time of year at the world would really help me out! THANKS!

I think it's the best time. By extended break, what do you mean?
This past T'day all we did was swim. From Thurs - Sat the crowds at the parks are pretty bad. The week after and before is great!

We went in 2001 and loved it. Since our previous trips were during the beginning of december we were prepared for a big change in crowds, but we were suprised. It was more crowded but we were able to ride everything with 15-20 minute waits. It is festive during this time of year and a great way to swing into the holiday spirit.

My kids swam one day. The weather was warm enough in the afternoon. The last day we left open for swimming but it rained all day. :( We wore pants and jackets in the evenings.

Thanks for the info! It helps out a lot. The break is wed-fri off, so that would give us 5 days if we could catch a flight Tuesday night. Is it still a little early to look for discounts for this time?

I have heard that the week after Thanksgiving is often the least crowded week of the year. Does anyone know this to be true. We did January this year and loved the low-no crowd situation. November would work better for DS's job. How do the crowds compare? Thanks for the help.

We went last Thanksgiving . It was more crowded than when were there the first week of January last year, but not too bad. But since that's the only time we've been during Thanksgiving, part of the reason it wasn't too crowded could have been because people weren't traveling much.

I think it's a good time for people who have been before. You know what's worth waiting for and what to avoid, so you don't have to see everything. You'll also be able to do CP at Epcot and see all of the Christmas decorations.

Could they miss two days before Thanksgiving and go from Friday to Thanksgiving? T Day into the weekend gets pretty crowded. Once piece of advice - get those priorities seating! We didn't,having planned the trip four days before we left, d by Wed I was begging for anyplace that would let us sit down. I was tired of picking out my dinner and carrying it on a tray. Thanksgiving dinner sells out quickly but we had a nice character buffet at the Dolphin. Tons of people, though, not a intimate family dinnner. It ranges between hot mid afternoon to cool in the evenings.

We've been twice the week after Thanksgiving and it is great! While T-day, Fri and Sat. are crowded it then empties out and you can walk on the attractions. Weather is usually warm enough to swim. We wore shorts all day and put on a sweater and pants at night. All the Christmas decorations are up too so you really get into the holiday spirit.

Oh, Karel, what a great idea! I can't believe I didn't think of that. Of course they could miss the two days prior to Thanksgiving--that wouldn't be any big deal. The teachers are great about getting homework together!

Thanks so much for the advice! I think I need to get planning now. I'll bet airline prices are pretty pricey at that time!
