Previous summer I have always spent a few of our wknds visiting relatives. This summer DS10 & I have spent our mini-vacas actually vacationing! And to tell the truth I have enjoyed them more. Can do what we want, when we want. Pools, etc.
Is your summer vaca more of a visiting vacation? or a "vacation"?

Actually summer isn't anything special to me anymore. It isn't a vacation and it isn't a visiting time either. It is just a warm bunch of days to me. Maybe that will change if I have kids :))

so alot of planning.....bridal showers....weddings.....my friend also had a baby...so that is a baby shower....I just want to veg for a few....warm weather again arrives today and till wednesday......warm and humid

We don't do much visiting in the summer.
Summer means to me = Vacation and Beach!!! I absolutely love summer! Btw, our beach trip is in 12 days!! Can't wait!!

I'm a teacher so I LOVE summer. It isn't so much a vacation as a chance to reorganize the house. Soon I'll have to get ready to go back. Thank goodness we had our WDW trip and I'm planning for next year as we speak.
We only have one out-of-town relative, my SIL in Cary, NC. We haven't visited her since 1994! It's a realy pain in the butt drive and DH hates it. She swears she isn't visiting here anymore because every year she has done it, but hey, her whole family is HERE so why not? Her brothers, nieces, nephew, and parents.

We actually vacation, but that all may change. DH's parents can't travel due to his father's stroke. If we have to take a job somewhere else, we will feel like we need to come back and visit frequently. That is one of my concerns about moving.

I'll take a summer vacation any way I can get it.

Beach, mountains, lake side, visiting family in Philly....whatever.

Sometimes, it's just nice to get away from the day-to-day routine, even if it's a day trip.

One year, we did just that. Drove to Graves Mountain near the Shenandoah Mountains. We got out and walked, and walked and walked. The scenery was beautiful! Then we drove back home again afterwards.

It was the best therapy just having that "change of scenery." Even if it was only for one day.

Pretty much all of our relatives live near us in New Jersey. We don't have any relatives down the shore or near Disney (except for one aunt who lives near Orlando, who we visit our first day there). So our vacations are never visitations, they're always vacations.

For us, it's definitely vacation time. We live about 25 minutes from the beach and probably don't go as much as we should. I LOVE the beaches on the west coast of FL (Gulf) and we go every summer. We just got back from our vacation on Marco Island and it was perfect. It was so hard to leave...:(

So I thought I'd share a couple of pics of the beach to get you all in the mood.

Love the colors in this pic....

Doesn't it look peaceful?

Definitely more of a vacation. We take lots of weekend trips to Vegas, San Diego, Yosemite, etc.

We don't vacation until the fall and we have very few visitors most summers....it is just a regular work week for me....:(

We spent almost all of our vacations visiting family until recently. There comes a point when you need some time away to yourselves even if it means not seeing your family. I say - let them come here!
