Is Spoodles good enough for my BDay?

I wanted to book Le Cellier for my BDay but it was booked so I switched some plans around and booked Spoodles. I'm getting nervous about all of the bad reviews on Deb's site! I want my BDay meal to be memorable.
If you think Spoodles is good, please say so. If not, any other suggestions? We are already going to Cape May, Le Cellier, Kona, Councourse,Chef Mickey's, and 50s Prime Time for our other dinners. We are on the dining plan. I think I can find something else if I do it soon.

I have to say that I have not been too impressed with Spoodles the past few times I've eaten there. Have you looked at Flying Fish? It's right by Spoodles, and in my opinion, the food, service, and atmosphere are much better than Spoodles. Even if you don't like fish, they have a steak on the menu that people rave about.

Spoodles is great.
The Portuguese Seafood Stew is wonderful. If you don't like Spice though don't get it. It has some kick. But it was great.
The New York Strip I got (with scallop and shrimp add ons) came out just as ordered (med-rare) and was very tender and flavorful. The scallops were beautifully done. Those didn't get passed around for anyone else to try. Ooops... My bad. :rotfl2:
The Rigitoni was Nicely done. The Add ons were integrated into the dish. I thought it wasn't going to work with the sausage and all but it did. Yummy!!!
The Kid's steak was great too. It wasn't inferior to the adult's cut in quality like so many places can be. And it came out as ordered (Med)

The Appetizers. MMM MMM. The Mediterranean dips had three different kinds of dips plus olives to crush and put on the flatbread. A nice appetizer. The Garlic shrimp is small in portion (It feeds only one) but it was Oh so good. Yummy.
Somehow, my son ended up with the 4 cheese flatbread. He hated it. The adults all loved it. They didn't have the Pepperoni or plain cheese like they have listed at all ears then.

The Deserts.
I had Orange, Chocolate, pistacio cake. Yummy stuff.
The kid got the Build your own icecream. It came out on an artist palate. Really fun for him and cool.
Another in the party had cake. I liked that one too but forgot what kind she got.
The last in our party had creme brulee. It got the thumbs up.

Spoodles is yummy. When we were there in Nov we ate there twice. We even gave up sought after ADR's for Le Cellier to go to Spoodles. DH even talked our waitress into letting him have the cookies and milk as his dessert. A nice open place but it can be loud. It's fun to watch the chef's do their thing in the open kitchen. Have fun, & anywhere you pick will be great because its your birthday, and your at WDW!!

You are going to get pros and cons on Spoodles right now. Seems that the cooking can run either great or not so good. Maybe you want to try a restaurant that is consistently good. There are many posts about Spoodles on the Restaurant Board so maybe you might want to review them.

I have eaten at Flying Fish and loved it; however, I don't want to spend 2 TS each at any one meal. I am already trying to get my girls (14 and 11) to split some meals so we can eat lunch before we leave on departure day.
I'll check those other threads. I just looked through my planning books during DS's soccer practice; there is no restaurant I "have" to try where I have not eaten, nowhere I am really tempted to switch to. (I am a creature of habit and Spoodles is the only place we are eating we have NOT eaten before). If I did switch it would probably be to Teppanyaki.

We loved the food at Spoodles when we there last fall. The NY Strip with add-ons (shrimp, scallops and salmon) was delicious. The apps and desert were also fantastic. And you definitely must not pass on the very yummy sangria! :goodvibes

We were not impressed, however, with the service. We had our 3 children with us (10, 8 & 4) and were seated at the very back table (restaurant was nearly empty since we made early ADRs) The host promptly snatched away the wine glasses on the table and said, "We don't need any broken glasses". I understand that children can make messes and be louder than other guests, but I found that very rude--especially since my boys were very aware that the comment was directed at them. Our server was also very slow and not terribly attentive. But we were at Disney and eating great food together as a family, so we had a great time regardless of those things. we would definitely go back.

Have a great birthday!

We love Spoodles. We have never had bad meal there. We love the Flatbreads. They used to a dish scallops and mashed potatos that excellent. Sorry to say it is not the menu anymore.

As in most resturants the service depends the person serving you. Some waiters and waitresses are much more attentive of the person needs, as other are not.

Spoodles is one of our favorites. It used to be a mindblowingly incredible restaurant -- now it is merely great. The food is excellent, the service is pretty good, and the prices are far more resonable than many other restaurants we've visit instead.

No to Spoodles!

It's your birthday ... go around the corner to the Flying Fish or hop :bounce: on the boat and go over to the Yachtsman! Guarantee you'll enjoy either of those restaurants more than Spoodles!

Don't forget: DESSERT!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

My wife and I tried Spoodles and it was not good at all. We hated that we wasted a TS credit on it. Ughhhhh. Service was ok.

Not a big fan of Spoodles. Limited menu and not "special" enough for a B-day.. I like the Flying Fish much more and worth the extra $$. Enjoy either choice.

Spoodles is one of my very favorite restaurants at WDW and we eat there every trip. But, we were at Disney this year for my birthday and we celebrated at Yachtsman Steakhouse.
