Hi all,

I haven't been to DLR for 11 years, but have gone to WDW recently. Is Splash Mt substantially different at DLR than at WDW? I seem to remember the drop at DLR being steeper, or longer or something like that?

I'm a big wuss and can barely take the drop at WDW.

I have no facts to back it up, but I handle the WDW version better than DL so I think there is a difference.

Other than the boat setup (riders sit side by side at WDW and then one behind the other at DL) I think that DL's version rushes you through the scenes inside the mountain. The drops seem the same to me. There is at least one different animatronic scene as well it is at the end of the ride before you climb the hill. The family of rabbits I think it is are all huddled together saying how sad it is about brer rabbit.

I love DL. It is by far my favorite park but Splash Mountain is my favorite ride and I prefer the WDW version.

the seating is different. i rode the WDW one 10 years ago so i dont remember much.

I know the WDW version of Splash Mountain is considered to be much better by most, myself included. I believe DL's is shorter and I just felt like WDW's scenes were better-structured.

I don't know if either has a steeper drop--both are supposed to be 52.5 feet, I believe. http://www.lifthill.com/water-rides/splash-mountain-wdw/ says the boats are a little heavier so that might affect the way the ride feels when you drop.

The first time I was on DL's the drop really bothered me but it wasn't as bad on subsequent trips....though it's still not a favorite of mine there. In WDW the drop didn't bother me at all but I was feeling really at ease that trip overall so that may have had something to do with it. Or maybe it's just the seating arrangement. Wikipedia says DL's drop is 47 angles and WDW's is 45 but I don't know if I believe that.
