I noticed that Disneyland is giving free tickets to the fire fighters for all their hard work. But one odd thing I saw was that those tickets are blocked out on Dec 8th and 9th. They are not blocked out the weekend before or the weekend after. I personally am not using those tickets, but will be there that weekend- so am wondeting if I should expect large crowds??

Anybody know anything?

I would really like to know as well, those days will be the last 2 days we are there and I hope that everything will be ok on those days.

maybe an expireration date?

It might just be an expected high volume day? Maybe there is a local convention, etc.

either way, most of the tickets are blacked out on Weekends in Dec. THey do except high crowds... almost everything(except for Premium passes and deluxe passes) are blacked out after the 15th. Most other passes are blocked out on weekends.

Just hope for the best, I guess. Would have expected the weekend before with the Candlelight activities, or the weekend after, as it is closer to Christmas to be busier. But guess not!

I emailed Vacation Planning to ask- and all I got was an " I don't know".

No matter what- will make the best of it- it is Disneyland!

my best and only explanation is the Travel Company Private party. I believe they dont want any more people to be mad and feel like they wasted money so they blacked out that day...

i think it falls in that week, but i may be wrong... and maybe because of another private party... i have no idea.

Albort.....
And I thought you knew everything..... I know for one we plan to visit on Dec 8th or 9th... Hoping for not huge crowds.. I made the mistake of NOT going last weekend due to the parade taping.. it sounds like that was not ascrowded as expected or discussed on this board...

I still value your wise information and guidance with DL.

Is this year a big deal for Pearl Harbor day? So much so that the weekend after it is going to draw lots of people?

The hours that day are long, unlike the beginning of that week for the CM nights....might just be a mystery!

Ooh wait, doesn't it end up being the last weekend, or second to the last weekend, before all but the premium APs are blacked out? Maybe they are letting the lower APs have one last weekend without a bunch of extra people?

OK that is probably just silly. :upsidedow

I did an itinerary on Ridemax for Dec 8th and it doesn't act/show that is will be any busy then the midday. I plugged in a LOT of rides and it only shows a slight slow down in the early evening, which is a normal everyday thing for DL. So I have no clue what it could be blocked out.

I am trying to book a hotel that weekend and many, including the 3 disney hotels are sold out. I am rethinking my plans.

Dec 1st and 2nd (candlelight weekend) there is still availability in the Disney hotels, Dec 15th and 16th which is when most schools have let out already, still availability, Dec 7th and 8th, I can not find any info on there being a convention or anything else special all Disney Hotels sold out????????

One reasons the DL hotels are booked for that time is because of the AP rate they offered for that time, so many of the Annual Passholders booked rooms during this special rate.

Where did you get the firefighter information?! How neat!!

My husband was down in CA for 2 weeks on the fires. We are going to be in Disneyland Dec. 9th-12th. My DH, DD, and I aren’t benefiting from this…I know little about it, but I think you have to live in S.CA and we live in E. Oregon.
It is however, very nice to hear about this acknowledgment:goodvibes . It is truly wonderful to hear how everyone in CA is so thankful for the firefighters and rescue workers hard work.

It will be nice to see other firefighters and there families enjoying time tighter. You truly don't get much of that in this line of work…..(from April and currently my husband has been gone for 8 months and home hit-or- miss about 34 days)
Those Men and Women deserve it!!!!! There are A LOT of fires these people fight that aren’t publicized. I would have to say about 80% arn't. They miss Birthdays, Mothers days, Fathers days, Anniversaries, reunions, weddings, and time with there family. I hope thay get a chance to use this gift. Not just for fighting the CA fires but for all the fires they have fought and sacrifices they have made!!!!

How kind of Disneyland to extending this offer:flower3: . What a wonderful and generous gift for there S. California firefighters and rescue workers!

We're going the 9-10 and the firefighters I personally know are going the following weekend, closer to Christmas. I don't expect the crowds to be big, however, I could be wrong.

We always go this exact same time of year, and it is never crowded :)
