We will be getting the free dining plan. But I wouldn't see why that matters what kind of package you get.

Has anyone shared their TS meals on the dining plan, free dining or otherwise?

Thanks Disers!

Sharing is not allowed at buffets, all you can eat family style restaurants, dinner shows or fixed price restaurants. Sharing of the skillet entree at Whispering Canyon is not allowed.

According to reports, sharing on DDP is apparently not allowed at Beaches & Cream or Via Napoli.

Otherwise, go for it.

Thanks! We might want to share at a couple TS.

When you say fixed price, what do you mean? Like the chefs pick 3 options? Not sure I understand.

I use that to refer to restaurants where everyone at the restaurant pays one price, but selects from a menu of different choices. Like CRT, or Akershus. Victoria & Albert's would also fit this model.

Not restaurants where a limited 3 course fixed price menu is offered as an alternative or supplement to an a la carte menu, like Chefs de France or Le Cellier's lunch.

Also, you can share with others who are on the dining plan with you, but you cannot share with people who are not on the plan. So if you and your spouse are in one room you can split a meal (where allowed) but if you have friends in another room not on the plan you cannot share with them.

Thanks for the information! We will all be on the same reservation being in the same room and all have the dining plan.

thanks again!

I understand it is probably just a policy but it is funny to think that if i am sitting next to my sister and she is on the food plan and I am not we couldn't share. For instance if I bought oop an appetizer and a salad and she had the main course and dessert then why not share? Whereas she could share with her DH sitting on her other side? Odd:confused3

Not really odd at all - Disney does not want people on the DDP to share with people who didn't buy the DDP. If people could use the dining credits to buy non-DDP people meals, Disney would lose money.

While that is true, the way the poster above implied that she, not on the plan would order an appetizer and salad and pay OOP and her sister on the plan would order a main course and dessert, if they didnt tell the waitress, "oh we are going to share" no one is gonna come around and police who is eating what. I realize that was just a hypothetical situation, but if she ordered something, and was not just sitting there saying she was going to "bum off the plates of those on the dining plan" :rotfl: I dont see how anyone would say anything!

If you allow your tablemate to have a few bites of your appetizer or dessert or even your entree when they have ordered their own meal I am sure that is not a problem, but according to the policies we've got on the restaurant board, if the conversation becomes about using your DDP credits to provide meals for persons not on your dining plan, via either ordering a meal for them or sharing a plate with them, we'll need to close the thread.

I guess I think it is odd because all of the food is paid for (except for buffets where I understand the no share rule). The dining plan was for paid for or should I say the food is just prepaid in the case of a dining plan. Even if you have free dining you could argue that you paid in some way but in my sisters case it isn't even free dining. Seems like a reason to dislike the dining plan if you prepay but then it is dictated even further how you use it beyond the outlined plan coverage.

Eta: I apologize. Just saw the above post so I'll leave it alone. Btw, was not trying to cheat or get around anything but just thinking about everyday sort of eating out.
