I am getting one in may for mothers day (and when my contract expires) and i noticed best buy sells the refurbished iPhones.

If it works like new and looks like new i don't see a problem and wouldn't mind saving $50 either! BUT is there problems you many not see? Are the warranties different?

Any one purchased a refurbed iPhone?

Check into it very carefully. I heard on the radio when it was announced that refurbs come with only a 90 day warranty, and aren't eligible for Apple care extended warranty. Don't know if that is 100% true, so check it out. If that's true, then I wouldn't think the $50 savings is worth it.

Knock on wood, I've had mine for 7 months, and it's going great, but it just takes one thing to go wrong, and it will ruin your pocket book.

lot's of free apps for the Iphone out there, so maybe it's worth paying retail. Walmart sells them the cheapest, by the way.

I got a refurbished iPod touch and it worked great for about 9 months and then out of the blue it stopped working. I listened to it on the way to work and when I left work it wouldn't work. I didn't drop it or get it wet or anything. It's warranty is expired. I'll pay the extra money and buy a new one next time.

I've bought a bunch of stuff from the Apple refurb store (including 2 MacBook Pro's and about 5 different iPods) over the years and never had any problem. Apple refurbs carry the original warranty.
