Is POR "Alligator Bayou" neat or cheesy?

I didn't think it was at all Cheesy and I know cheesy, I live 5 mins from Wisconsin :cool1: . Seriously we stayed there just this March after the renovations and in November 2003 before renovations and I don't remember feeling it was dark or dingy at all. The grounds are so beautiful and I found the resort overall to be very relaxing which to me was a big plus after a long day of parks. It's gracious and southern on both sides. I thought the mansions were pretty and I thought the AB section was simply charming. We have only stayed in AB since there were 5 of us. Oh to the one who asked about the picture MiJo posted, that's definitely an AB bldg, but I don't know for sure which one. I have a theory so this is fun I get to wait to see if I'm right :)

i've stayed in the Bayou section and the Mansions, and i absolutely loved the bayou section. it just had that extra magical feel to it; not cheesy at all. the Mansions i did not care for... it reminded me too much of other non-disney hotels i stay at (on the inside of the actual room, that is).

Hi there MiJo,

Is that one of the AB bldg's? If so which one? We're going Aug 20. That (101 days!!) that pic got me all excited again...just what I needed after a lousy, lousy day!! Did I mention 101 days?! :goodvibes

Thanks!
Cheryl

Yes, that is an AB building. I believe it's Building 37, since that was the closest one to our room in Acadian House.
Enjoy your trip!

Thanks Mike! I showed dd's the pic last night and they were all excited. I just can't wait!! :teeth:

Thanks all for your input - and thanks for the great pic too! I think it sounds like fun - and definately different from home (Toronto Canada). Now all I have to do is convince 'grampy' to babysit my little guy for a week so the big kids can storm the World :wizard:

I was walking the other day, and decided to walk around POR. I have stayed there 3 times in the past and always stayed in the Mansions section. I have to admit I love it there! Gone with the Wind is a favorite movie of mine, so maybe that is why!

Well, anyway, I started my walk in the AB section since I had never really looked closely at it. Honestly, it gave me the creeps a little bit. And I thought if I was staying there I don't know if I would be able to walk in the dark around it. It was a little "too" realistic for me,and felt like an aligator would jump out at the next turn! :rotfl:

So I personally will stick with the mansions. But if you are not fearful of things that go bump in the night--I am sure you will love it!
