Is onsite worth two tanks of gas per night?

Please help. DD (8) and I will be doing a girls trip to Orlando for Halloween. We arrive late on the 30th and leave on the 2nd. I already have tickets for the party at Disney Halloween night but we have decided to do Universal for the rest of the trip. The problem is where to stay. We have reservations at a Disney value for the first to nights and a reservation for the last two nights at the Royal Pacific. Is the Royal Pacific worth one hundred dollars a night (two tanks of gas for me) more than the Sheraton Studio City? Will we need Express Pass? This will be our first visit to Universal after having done Disney about twice a year for the last ten years. Disney ticket prices have become too much. Please give your advice. :confused3

The 1st and 2nd fall on a weekend, just after Halloween .. I'd say its worth it personally. Probably crowded, however I can't say 100%.

It would be worth it to me. Only you can decide if it would be worth it to you.

It would be worth it to us, because we love FOTL. RP is a beautiful resort too, I would imagine it would be much nicer than the Sheraton although I can't say for sure because I've never been to that Sheraton. Consider the added hassle of driving into the parks, parking, walking from the parking deck to the parks, then doing the same thing in reverse when you need a break in the afternoon. Now picture a 10 minute walk from the park to your room, or a relaxing water taxi ride!

Have you checked for any discounts on the room? AAA, AP, etc? I've found the Universal operators to be very helpful on looking for the cheapest rates, so you could just ask and see what discounts might be available.

i would stay onsite.
you will get three days of fotl for the 2 nights you stay onsite.

rph should be the cheapest hotel during that time period.

book now and modify later with the discount cards.

with hhn happening, rooms book up quickly.

if you can not secure a discount rate, you can cancel your ressie with no penalty by giving a 5 day notice to the hotel.

buy the promo tickets 7 days, 2 parks tickets and also get the wet and wild tickets free.

We love staying onsite at WDW and at US. Staying onsite has so many benefits that we will never stay offsite again. If we have to go less to do this, it is still worth it.

If you have small ones, being able to go back and forth to your room is just amazing. Not having to get back in your vehicle and pay tolls or parking is great. If you have older kids, they are doing what they enjoy and you are able to be a stone throw away just in case they need you. Relaxation is a surprise and much enjoyed time when you have children.

We have stayed at all 3 US/IOA onsite hotels and you will not be disappointed.
Just my vote!

What days and for how long are you planning on visiting Universal? You may be able to get by with just one night at Universal since you get Express Access on both the day you check-in and the day you check-out.

The Four Points Studio City (note that it is no longer a full-service Sheraton, but rather "Four Points by Sheraton") is a nice enouogh hotel, nothing special, but certainly not bad. Rooms are actually quite spacious, especially compared to the RPR.
