Is 'Ohana worth it for a semi-vegetarian?

I have been wanting to eat at 'Ohana for years now because I always hear it getting rave reviews. However, I am not sure if I can justify the price considering neither myself nor my DM eats red meat. All of the starters sound delicious to me, as does the turkey... I know I could eat tons of those choices... but I do not want to be wasteful by not eating the shrimp, steak, or pork. So I guess my question is--are the appetizers and turkey by themselves good enough to make the price justified? And would there be any additional vegetarian options that would not cost extra if we asked for those in place of the other meat skewers? TIA for your input!

Well, I'm allergic to pork and I hate shrimp and I keep going back. :) Mind you, I do eat the steak, so I have one other option open. Personally, I think the starters and the turkey probably are worth it, especially since you can get as much as you like (or as much as it takes to fill you up).
If you're concerned about wasting food, don't worry - you don't have to take the meat they offer if you're not interested. In our case, we just tell the server in advance that we can't have any pork at the table and they skip us with that particular skewer. I'm sure if you said you were only interested in the turkey, they'd only bring that skewer. I'm not aware of any vegetarian options, but I've never asked.

Also, the pineapple with caramel sauce they bring at the end is almost worth the price all by itself. :teeth:

I'd definitely say give it a try. Best of luck.

On our last visit to Ohana between the bread, salad, rice and chicken wings(I assume you can eat those if you eat turkey), I only had 1 piece of turkey and 3 pieces of beef. Also had pineapple with caramel. I was more than full and feel I definitely got my moneys worth, even with ony 3 pieces of beef.
I think you could definitely make a full meal out of the meatless offerings.

DH most generally eats just the starters and the turkey.... just because he loves the turkey over the others. I definitely think it is worth it. You definitely won't go hungry. I say, go for it! Hope you enjoy.

IMO Boma and then Ohana are the places to go for vegetarian or even semi-vegetarian cuisine. Also if you do fish, Flying Fish, Spoodles and Akershus can be exceelent choices.

Definately give Ohana a try. Very good food served in a really cool atmosphere is a surefire winner for me.

Thanks a lot for your positive feedback!! :D I think I will just go for it and make a reservation for my upcoming trip-- and yes, I do eat both chicken and fish... it's only the red type of meat that I do not find appetizing. I can't wait to eat there! :p

DW only eats the starters, turkey and we get extra pineapple and caramel. I think you will enjoy it.

The appetizers are my favorite part.:D I usually have a few bites of the meat dishes, and fill up on the other stuff. I'm not sure what might be in some of the appetizers though--one selection are the honey chicken wings, and I don't remember what is inside the spring rolls and rice:confused:
