We are taking our first trip in Sept, during free dining, with our DDs 9 & 4, and I'm trying to decide if doing this is worth what it will cost. Anybody have any opinions?

Absolutely! We went for the first time this past Oct. and loved every minute of it. The villain show, parade and character trail were wonderful and especially the fireworks. I haven't seen the regular Wishes, but I thought Hallowishes blew Illuminations out of the water! (no pun intended ;) ) My daughter was 6 and was able to stay awake and excited for the whole thing until midnight.

To make it worth the cost for us was the day of the MNSSHP we had no regular park tickets...I only got a 5 day pass vs. a 6 day. The last day of our trip was the MNSSHP so it was our "Resort day" We rented boats, went swimming, had lunch, little one had a nap...then we went to Chef Mickey at 5pm for dinner and then just monorailed it over to MK. I was fun...a late night though. I don't think I would do it if I had already paid for a park day all day and then more $ for the party. The boys still talk about it...boy did they get a lot of candy!!!!:)

Haven't missed it in 4 years and don't plan on missing it EVER!!!

Absolutely. We had such a great time in '06, that we added 3 days to our vacation this year just to be able to go to MNSSHP!

I agree! We went for the first time last year and will be going again in Oct. Loved the parade and all the villians. My dd 4 really liked the trick or treating. We still sing the song they do during the parade.

YES it is so much fun. I have been to MNSSHP 3x now and we love it. We did the P&PP this past April and wont ever do that again because we think the Halloween is the best. The Hallowishes is absolutely the greatest firework show we have ever seen. Of course we all like candy too!;)

I will add that I agree that I would not plan on going after a park day. First off if you spend the day at the park your kids will most likely not make it through the night. Also they start letting people w/ MNSSHP tix in at 4pm (although we don't go that early cause we go in costume...and that's a long time to be in costume) But if your costume is not complicated and you could take it w/ you and change in the restroom or if you are not planning on being costumed. You can get in as early as 4:00.

I don't know how early in the month you are going (the earlier the better) but I would try to stay away from weekend dates as it is very well advertised here and a lot of locals go on th weekend nights. Though the earlier in the MNSSHP schedule you go the less likely this will affect you very much. Since you are going in Sept there are probably going to be less locals on an MNSSHP night.

We just LOVE MNSSHP. We usually dress up in theme and last year we had 13 people w/ us!! Most of us dressed as gangsters/ flappers but we also had the adams family, a clown, and a dr. and nurse. I'll see if I can find a pic.

OH, here we go..

YES!! Went in '06 and LOVED it!

100% worth it. You can do and see more during the party than you can in 2 regular days on a regular ticket. The two times we went there were no lines at all to ride attractions, we got to see the parade and fireworks without being trampled. It was a great time some of the best times we have had in the Magic Kingdom. My DD loved trick or treating. We are not going to make it to the party this year, I am not sure if DD knows you can have halloween without mickey mouse....:thumbsup2

We did it last year as our first year. We thought it was a little pricey, but figured it was going to be our only Disney trip. It was amazing! We did it as our first day, before we went to any parks. It was our very first WDW experience, and we could not have been more blown away. The kids loved it, we loved it, I can't say enough about how cool it is!

This year there was no question, we just knew that we would be doing it again. And it is one of the reasons we chose to go back to WDW. We are going on our first day before our park days again. I wouldn't go after a park day. I also get the 5 day passes, and then use MNSSHP as our first day before we use our tickets. So we get six park days total with MNSSHP tickets.

We dressed up the kids, brought their costumes in a backpack with us and had them change after dinner. This year we will come in dressed up instead. Just remember it is still pretty warm in the evening and you probably don't want anything that will be hot or that the kids can't take off if they become uncomfortable. Everyone in our family is dressing up this year, but we are keeping the costumes pretty simple.

We LOVED it! Out of all the special after-hours parties (ie. MVMCP, P & PP, and MNSSHP), it's by far our favorite! :thumbsup2

I'm so disappointed now though that we can't go that time of year anymore due to our school district's strict absentee policy :( :( :(

Our girls were 4 and 6 when we went in 2006 in October :) They loved trick-or-treating and we loved hitting virtually every ride in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland with no wait whatsoever.... just walked onto everything repeatedly! There are characters out for meet and greets that are not usually around (ie. Tarzan, Jane, Terk, etc..)

The parade song is quite catchy (Boo-to-you!) and I found myself singing it for weeks afterwards :rotfl:

Go, Go, GO if you can! :)

YES! YES! YES!

If you asked about the Christmas Party, I'd say probably not. But the Halloween Party - ABSOLUTELY!

I'm warning you though, the parade music will be stuck in your head FOREVER..but in a good way!

Totally agree ! Don't start me singing it

LOVE LOVE LOVE the party. Upped it to two times last year and already have tickets for two parties this year. :cool1:

LOVED IT! and it wasn't overcrowded and the parade was great and the characters were awesome! We may do it again this year!

110% worth it. It is our favorite thing at WDW. Its 100x better than MVMCP!

We love hallowishes, since DD is a nightmare before Christmas freak! The parade is better, the weather is better and there is candy! (Plus it was worth the $$$ to get Dh in a captian Jack costume for the night, that alone was priceless! )

Well, if that didn't make your mind up I don't know what will:thumbsup2

It is a lot of fun and we have gone the last two years and had a blast. Last year (9/14, my B-day) the rainstorm was horrible and lots of power outages, but we still managed to have fun. We were going to go again this year, but with 3 little ones who can't make it to midnight and the price increase :( it is not as good of a deal as prior years. We will be back again but not until our youngest is 6 or 7, and our twins will be 9 or 10.

I highly recommend and the kids will have blast. Just get there at 4pm, line up for FREE facepainting in adventureland at 6:30pm, take advantage of free strollers, get a prime spot for the FIRST parade and go counterclockwise, do the treat trails during the SECOND parade (great time for pictures with the characters (esp in Adventureland), and even if you don't do rides you will still have a blast.
