Over the last 6 months my house has gone through a lot lol. My house is fairly new and all of the appliances are as well. Yet, here’s a list of the things we’ve dealt with over the last 6 months:

-AC stopped working

-AC got replaced with a brand new inside and outside unit, wont cool below 74 now and had it looked at multiple times, no one can figure out why.

-stove stopped working. Replaced.

-washing machine just recently stopped working correctly and won’t drain. Dealing with this now.

-ice maker in freezer stopped making ice

-my keurig stopped working

-internet is terrible. Have supposedly the fastest internet they sell and it’s so slow. Had technicians out 4 times so far and they can’t figure out why

-spare fridge in garage started freezing everything we put in it regardless of what temp it’s set on

-terrible mouse problem. All of a sudden they showed up and there’s a lot of them. Exterminator has been out but they’re still here

-not house related but 2 of our cars have had major problems. My transmission went up in my mini van and DHs Infiniti had some kind of problem with his car that was an expensive fix

Now seriously, what’s the likelihood of all of this happening in a short period of time? I don’t like to dwell on the negative but this is crazy. Anyone ever have a string of bad luck? Did it ever go away lol?

How old is fairly new ? I will say my brand new house has two appliance catch on fire from bad wiring
Cable issues because house rewrites and more than likely nails through wires but I’m not ripping out drywall to find that
Mice could have been there before house was built or previous owners
Yes it’s a lot at once
I had air conditioning issues
Water heater issues
Window issues
And at one point in my life went through 3 refrigerators in less than 3 years
My luck runs
Appliances
Car
House
Things break in 3s always and a child usually gets sick too
This too shall pass
Good Luck 🍀 I hope things improve for you !!! I’m so sorry I know it’s a lot all at once !!! Hugs 🤗

Sounds like you could have had a power surge that hosed a lot of your appliances. You can get whole house surge protectors. Are you near big power lines? Also could be that your builder skimped on materials and appliances. Maybe the builder bought them from an outlet where they weren't quite right. The mice could also be from the house not being insulated/ built well. Do you have construction in the neighborhood? Construction will also disturb the mice and they'll flee the area trying to find another place to live. I'm so sorry that you're having all of these problems. Sounds terribly costly. Before replacing appliances, make sure to check youtube. I have fixed a lot of appliances that way, except for the Keurig. Those are just made cheaply. I went through 3 of them within a few years and then gave up. They are designed to fail. The seal breaks and Keurig does not sell the part to replace it.

Do you have hard water? Hard water without a softener will drastically cut down on the life of appliances. We found out the hard way. This won't fix your a/c though. My parents refrig/freezer in the garage does not work right in the summer time too. It freezes everything. Good luck and get some sage!

I don't think your house is cursed. In my old house, within a period of probably 2 years, we replaced a water heater, HVAC, dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, and refrigerator.

Of course the house was probably 50 years old, and the appliances were old. Newer appliances have a short lifespan too... It's probably timing.

with all the appliance issues i'm wondering about this as well (we put in a whole house surge protector a couple of years ago-not expensive/well worth it). the other issue could be something off with the voltage to the house. we had an issue with some closet lights at one point and in the course of the electrician working on it he discovered our voltage was low which resulted in a call to our utility company who discovered a previously unknown issue with our entire neighborhood. fortuntaly we escaped any appliance damage but we were told it can drasticly damage or reduce their lifespan.

any new construction or landscaping nearby? any wildfires near'ish in recent times? when their habitat is disturbed they migrate. we got them due to a neighbor's work on their place. exterminators got them under control but it took a while (several life cycles of mice). when you do get rid of them it's good to keep up with the treatments so they stay away.

The neighbors were working on their house when they showed up. Good idea about the voltage I’ll have to have someone look into that.
