Is my child tall enough?

Ok, I am waiting to take my 2 oldest children to an amusement park until my daughter is tall enough for the 48" rides. She LOVES thrill rides, and we all want to be able to go on together. I have been measuring her all winter. I measured her last week, and she is 48" in her normal sneakers, but not in bare feet. Would she make it on the rides? Or do the sticks add an inch for sneakers?
I will still wait until Aug. to see if she grows some more. Drink your milk little girl!!

Of course it will depend on the park. You're not talking WDW, right? WDW does not seem to pad for shoes. Neither does Kings Dominion in Virginia. Not sure about other places, though. If you're not going until the end of August I bet that she will be ok. How are you measuring her? I have my son stand against a wall and then put a ruler, etc level on his head (or as level as I can get it). I angel it down a tad or at least make sure it's not angled up. I then mark the wall under where the ruler meets the wall. Or I use a long pencil if I'm not being so exact. He's now 6 1/2 yo and meets all the 48" height restrictions with ease, but when I brought him to WDW in May he was barely tall enough and I prepared him for the fact that he might not be tall enough to ride.

when we went last november ds had to get measured for everything. did'nt see anyone with an issue with sneakers, but there were some kids with the taller flip-flops (like 2 inches) and several times the cm's made them kick them off to check. we also saw people realy irate when the cm's pushed down on the top of the head pony tails or the boys spiked hair and found the kids lacking the height. the way we overheard it was the measurement is for your actual height not any "enhancements" via "heels or hair"

i like that they uphold safety standards (took ds 9 years but he finaly got to ride "the big kid stuff" ).

My parents would stick my little sister in boots to give her that little bit of height and it always worked! I used to work in an amusement park (Six Flags) and would have to be height checker. I never made kids take off their shoes and even told some parents the boot trick. Before the flames come I only told the ones where the kid lacked 1/8 of an inch!

A couple of years ago we wanted to see if DS was tall enough for 6 Flags. We measured him at home and he was a solid 48 1/2 in. We got to the park and had him measured at customer service. On that stick he was only 47 1/2.

We took him to a couple of rides with a 48 in limit anyway. On most, they measured him and he was tall enough. On one coaster, he was too short.

We measure my daughter in bare feet and she will be at the edge but then at the theme park be over or just right with consideration to the shoes.

My oldest is a loooonnnngggg way for all that. She didn't hit the 40 inch mark until after she turned 4 where it seemed like most I know hit it much sooner.

But they seem to sprout quickly once they hit the spurt. It seems like they'll never get to it and then one day later they pass it and you are left thinking WHAT???

at animal kingdom the cm's said they did'nt meet the height requirement if they could fit a finger between the top of their head and the bottom of the height guide (and MAN do people when they've gotten a fastpass and then stood in line to find out the kids cant ride-but the cm's calmly point out the height sticks are available for reference before you ever get a fast pass).

One hint that I read on the DIS that is NOT cheating, but basically is a way to get the child to stand tall is to tell them to stand with their feet together and to take a deep breath. And yes, height restrictions are there for a reason and I know that none of us would want our kids to be unsafe!

Oh my gosh, at Tower of Terror, there was a man who was SO mad because his child was not tall enough. And the child really was not tall enough. This man was making such a stink, too.

My son did not measure tall enough for a few of the water rides at the water park and was very upset, but he really wasn't tall enough. I knew my son would have been fine on the rides, but the rules are the rules and I sure wasn't going to argue.

I was in line for Soarin in March and one of the CM's wanted to check the height of a little boy in line and he was tall enough. I guess we were all in a silly mood watching him get his height checked that we all cheered.
