Is MVMCP worth it?

Just wondering if the Christmas party is worth the extra money and time. We will be there the first week in Dec and thought about going on tuesday that week. I have a 2 year old ( 8:00 is her bedtime) 12 and 9 year olds. The 2 year old may sleep in her stroller but not really sure. Also are the rides very crowded? I don't like long waits.

I have always loved MVMCP since i started going to WDW a few years ago and i really think it's worth it. Last December i took DD 1 y.o. and she absolutely loved it. She stood in amazement at the entire parade. It was "magical" watching my baby daughter enjoying something that much for the first time in her life. It brought a tear to my eye and that has been my happiest memory so far. :goodvibes I will take her to every MVMCP until she moves out on her own and/or gets married and has her own family.

My best advice is to at least try to attend the event once and see if you like it. If you don't, then at least you'll have an informed opinion on the event.

DH and I will be in the world December 1-10. I am soooo excited to go to MVMCP. Can you tell me what is so special about it for you?

We went to MVMCP this past December (4th I think, it was a Tuesday). We loved it. The lines for the rides were nothing ! The free hot chocolate and cookies were wonderful ! It was such a wonderful night and I could not believe how empty the park was. Although, it seemed that everyone must have been in line for their free photo, which we sadly did not do because of the lines. I still regret that. The parade at night just topped off an already magical night. BUT, please be fore warned.... it gets mightly COLD at night. My kids had their winter coats, hats and gloves on and were still chilly that late at night. There were so, so, SO many kids that were not appropriately dressed. I was thoroughly disgusted to see "Mom" and "Dad" in long pants, sweatshirts and coats while there little 3 year olds were running around in shorts and t-shirts. :furious: So, dress warmly and have a great time !! Oh yeah, my daughters' favorite souveniers are the MVMCP EXCLUSIVE shirts, pins, and photo frames that we got that night. You can only get these items if you attend a MVMCP, they are not available any other time. They felt very special !

What makes it special for me is the Christmas atmosphere, along with the snow coming down on Main Street. The parade is awesome and the adding of the snow gives it a real christmasy feel.

You also get a free family photo ( i believe it's 5 x 7 or 8 x 10..not sure ) & free cookies and hot chocolate that are a real treat to enjoy while the parade is going on. These treats are available in certain sections of the park and the lines are really not that bad.

The best part of going during the Christmas holidays are the lights at Osbourne Lights at MGM. Now THAT is a sight to see. :Pinkbounc

We attended our first mvmcp when our two children were 3 and 2. We loved it! The parks were not crowded, especially in certain areas. We enjoyed seeing so many characters all decked out in their Christmas gear. We rode several rides over and over because there were not lines. Now, I'm not talking Splash Mountain, here, because again, my children were little. The longest lines were for pictures and hot chocolate/cookies. But still, they weren't too bad.

How we handled the fatigue factor was just not spending all day in the parks. I think we all took our longest nap that day. Then, we headed over to Liberty Tree for dinner. We loved it. Again, characters are dressed in Christmas gear. The fireworks are spectacular at this event as well.

My children (and I) loved the parade! It was special because it was different. Then when we got home, we watched it on Christmas day with new eyes, because we had been there for it.

I would definitely recommend it. We would definitely go again, but this year are trying our first mnsshp. BTW, Hubby and I were surprised at how late our children stayed up!

Another thing to note, we went the first week of December too, so crowd levels may be similar to our experience for the mvmcp you're looking at.

Enjoy!

I've only been once, this past December, and I have to say it was magical. The parade - and I'm not a big parade person - is the best I've ever seen, the "snow" on Main Street is enchanting, the shows are super, and we also took two friends for their very visits to the MK - what a wonderful night. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

DD and I love it as well. Being from the North, and now living in FL, it makes it seem like Christmas a bit more than I think it would be without! I always pray for a chilly night - you know Bundle of up in Christmas sweaters, etc(I know that's that opposite of what the tourists want!) to make it even more special (hasn't happened in three years!)

The sights and sounds and smells of the holidays are all around! I don't think there is a more magical time (IMHO) then Christmas at Disney, so this is a whole night of it!
It's also somewhat of a family tradition now - my Dsis has been coming to WDW every year now since 1998 (w/ the exception of 2001), always starting her holiday the day after Thanksgiving. So when I moved here in 2003 we started meeting them for the party (she travels with a buddy - their DHs stay home - along with the buddy's son who also lives in Orlando and used to be a CM). It is a fun evening because we are with family. We also spend a day with them and go to see the Osbourne Lights. I don't see Dsis at Christmas - so this is when we celebrate!

Reading this thread is building up my excitement level. Although we've been to WDW several times, this is our first trip in Dec. We'll be there the 1st - 9th. We are thinking of going to MVMCP on the 4th or 5th, but are waiting for the Candlelight Processionals to be announced for this timeframe.

I love reading about others experiences so that I can learn and hope to plan the best evening possible for my family :)
