Is "Modern Family" no longer funny, or is it just me?

Glad I'm not alone about Gloria! I actually have some friends who won't watch Modern Family simply because of her accent. Of course, I don't think she's the main problem. It's more about the bad storylines, poor writing, etc. She's just the icing on the really bad cake. Lol. Phil used to be my favorite, and even he's getting boring! It's kind of the same old shtick with him, too.

I like the show and IMHO still funny to watch.. And I like Sofia's hair color, nice highlights . I believe her character is speaking with accent on purpose, heck after living in the USA for more than 16 yrs from PR still have my accent as well like many other Latinos here .. . IMHO ..

I don't mind Gloria's accent, but last year the screaming was so annoying and don't get me started on the Lily character. Why couldn't she just be a sweet little girl instead of a brat. So far this year it hasn't been annoying, just not very funny. I've been watching some old episodes and laughing out loud. Claire getting her belt caught in the escalator.

I read this thread going "NO! I LOVE MODERN FAMILY! STOP! IT IS FUNNY!" out of love for the show...

...but being honest with myself, I have been disappointed

That's how my fiancé felt last season, actually. He knew it wasn't on par with past episodes, but didn't want to fully admit it. Lol. Personally, I think everyone that's posted and said it's just as funny as normal, or even better than past seasons, is wrong. You can't help but notice the change in tone, the change in writing style, especially if you go back and watch some of the first season episodes (which I have---the pilot and the one where Manny gets stood-up by his dad are great examples). Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, of course! Some people may like the "new style" better. I'm just not one of those people (As a side note, I too agree that Lily's brattiness is incredibly annoying... and the actress that plays her, while adorable, is really bad at delivering her lines---you can see her inexperience, unfortunately.)

I do think the Middle is still funny. I have a teenage son who reminds me of Axl sometimes.

I agree Gloria can be a bit much. But I still find the show funny. To me the best characters have always been the Dunphy's and they still make me laugh.

I still find Modern family to be very funny! I'm enjoying this season so far!

I think the problem with Modern Family is they haven't progressed the story line or characters in any real way. The earlier seasons had small family moments that were funny and heart warming and sometimes just plain funny. You learned about the characters. Now its all a set up for the next joke.

They tried to have story with Mitch & Cam's marriage, Gloria's baby etc...but its not working. I think they need to focus on smaller moments that are important to the individuals and family. They did a better job of that in the earlier seasons I thought.

I still think its funny and will watch but it is different.

I still like The Middle. Now that Axl has gone to college, I think we will see more of Brick and he is so funny. I loved his parts in the last 2 episodes at the middle school.

my favorite line so far this season was when Mitchell was telling Lily to get ready for school and she was way ahead of him, telling him she's ready and can't fall behind etc~ and he said "Sometimes I forget to factor in the Asian" If you knew our school district, you'd have cracked up too.

I use to love it but last season it went downhill a little. I was kinda bored these first few episode which makes me sad. It was so funny in the beginning
