Is metal detecting allowed at the Fort, or anywhere on WDW property?

Dh wants to do some metal detecting on our next trip. I don't remember seeing any signs around the Fort, saying "No Metal Detecting" but I wasn't really looking for them at the time. We have noticed lately, more signs posted on some of the places we visit that prohibit metal detecting.

There was a guy in Jan doing this in 1600 loop. So, I guess it's OK. You could always ask permission.

I had not thought about that! I know we have certainly lost our share, now we use the rubber backs.

Ours would come loose even with the rubber backs. We now use the metal locking pins. (Hammond gal here ).

I will post if dh finds anything of interest. My dd's have gotten older and kind of lost interest in pin trading, but dh still wears some on his hat. It is so funny to see a grown man get upset if a pin falls off his hat! We now use the locking backs on his hat.
