Is medical oxygen available in the parks?

We are travelling with someone who may need this service. She'll be using a scooter, but there are times she'll be walking, too. Luckily, we will be going when it's cooler in December. Anyway, this person has been on oxygen before. She has a portable unit for this purpose, too. Over the last couple of years, she has been without it. She probably doesn't walk very much everyday at home. Her biggest walk is probably to the mailbox and back. I know she will be doing more than normal at Disney World. She does go once a year for a week to Branson; as well as, a few other places; so, she does manage to get around somewhat and take trips.

I was hoping this service was available at the nurses stations at the parks. Does anyone know if it is possible to do this service there?

It would only be available in an emergency (I.e. Like if she was in distress and EMS/ambulance was called ).

If she might need it, she would have to bring it with her. If she has her own, it could be stored in First Aid until she needs it, but they can't provide it for her. She would need to work thru her present oxygen supplier to get the proper doctor's orders and equipment.
Of you look in the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board, you will find some links to past threads about using oxygen in post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread.

I called special needs myself and the emergency only situation is right. I didn't know the nurse's station would store the concentrator for you; that's good to know and makes sense in a way.

Guest services did tell me the nurse's station would refill it for you. I will have to double check about this aspect.

I am not sure that is correct.
You need a prescription for oxygen and it doesn't sound to me (as an RN in Minnesota) like something they could refill.

I don't know about oxygen; so, I'm relying on the phone call for information. Guest services went off the line to find out about this for me. She was mistaken no doubt.

This is why I keep coming back to the DisBoards.
