Just buy electronics at Costco where you get a free extended warranty.
Yes, this is what I did when shopping for a new laptop. Someone here recommended Costco for that. It might have even been you!

They have a 6-month return policy and a 2 year free extended warranty. I bought another two years after that as that's when my other laptops tended to break.
My previous laptop, I bought at
Best Buy which has a return policy of only 14 days. The laptop's touchscreen mouse broke on Day 15.

Never buying from there again!
With electronic equipment you really have to factor in what happens when it breaks. Will the company even have replacement parts? Will eBay have them so someone else can put the part in. What is the likelihood that something WILL break down easily? Will the company even be in business? What is their customer service like?
Like others said, I didn't even know Magnavox was even in business as they currently don't have a reputation anymore.
One Black Friday, I bought a Goldstar DVD player at a great price. It still works, but finding a universal remote that works with it is hard, as it's such an off-brand that most remotes don't include.
