Is La Nouba as funny as Mystere?

I'm planning a trip Jan 20-23 and and thinking of adding the show. My dd (9) LOVED Mystere and is excited about this but I am wondering if La Nouba has the same comedic elements that Mystere does. In particular, she giggled hilariously at the grown "baby" bits and the stuff where the audience members are .... not sure what word to use.... embarrassed? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've never seen Mystere, but did recently see, and was blown away by, La Nouba. We (myself, DH, DS5 and DD7) saw it the last night of our trip and had a great time. There is a two person "clown" act, for lack of a better term, that provides comedic relief before and at intervals during the show. There are a few moments of audience participation. And if I recall correctly, there were humorous elements in some of the acts.

The entire show was very engaging and entertaining in a delightfully off beat kind of way. I know I was concerned about my children liking it at their young ages, but the concern was unfounded as it held their attention and we all ended up loving it.

Hope you decide to go. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I have seen Mystere, O , and Vareki. My son who is 7yo has also seen all three. We HATED LaNouba and would never pay to go back. I hate to say that because I am one of the biggest Cirque fans there is ...it just doesn't compare to the other shows IMHO .... Go and check it our yourself though - you might enjoy it.

You definately will not be dissapointed. We see La Nouba everytime we visit Disney World. There are definately comedic elements. Some were mentioned, but also there are 4 characters dressed in white that do alot behind the scenes that is hilarious. One waiter at Artist Point described it as a Entertainment Overload. You will be astounded and amazed from beginning to end, and will be talking about it for years to come. You will especially be blown away by the last act.

Welcome to the DIS!

La Nouba is not as "dark" as Mystere. I preferred Mystere to La Nouba but my 6 year old nephew was enthralled by La Nouba. I think La Nouba is geared more toward children.

I took my sweetpea/dd9 (was 8 at the time) to see La Nouba and she absolultely loved it. It was one of the highlights of her entire trip. She still talks about it constantly and how much she loved it. For weeks on end she acted out scenes from the show and would ask "do you remember this part?" and so forth. The sweetpea is already making plans to see it again next time we go. Im sure you guys will enjoy it as much as we did.

Thank you for all of your replies about La Nouba! I appreciate all the help. I'm leaning toward getting the tickets - will let you know how it goes! Thanks!

We just saw Vareki in November and the kids loved it and are now begging to see La Nouba in December. DH and I are going to Vegas the end of the month and bought tickets for the new show Ka.

I've seen Mystere, O, Quidam, and La Nouba. I enjoyed all of them. Mystere to me, is my favorite, maybe because it was the first one I saw, however, DH and I did really enjoy La Nouba also. Any of the productions with their own theater, to me, are better than the touring ones. I would go if you have the time to see it.

Hi,

If you are a fan of the Cirque then you must see La Nouba...so you too can compare.

BUT that said...We have seen Mystere 3 times now and love the music and performances way better than La Nouba which once was enough for us.

Here is how I would rate the Cirque shows we have seen:

O
Varekai/Quidam (tie)
La Nouba (saw it 2 times)
Alegria
Mystere (my favorite music though!)

:cheer2:

I have to be honest and say that I hated La Nouba. I don't like juggling and acrobatics and so was extremely bored. But my husband loved it and thought it was a great show, better than any other Cirque show he'd seen.

Loved La Nouba, liked Mystere. We saw La Nuoba when it first opened though, it might have changed. We were disappointed in Mystere because it just wasn't as good (but still a great show).

What an interesting question as I didn't think Mystere was funny at all. I thought it was pretty dark. If I recall correctly they drag a black coffin across the stage in the very first scene. I wouldn't categorize La Nouba as funny either. If anything it's dramatic.
