Is La Hacienda in the same building as the mexican counter service?

We ate at the mexican counter service place and sat inside. Is that where you eat at La Hacienda or is there a different building? When I saw the picture of La Hacienda on the WDW sight it looks just like where we ate for the counter service place and the atmosphere is not very nice.

That is not the same place you eat in for La Hacienda. We ate at La Hacienda when it first opened in Sept. and it is BEAUTIFUL! Also, there are many seats next to the windows that would be perfect for Illuminations! You should definitely check it out :thumbsup2

I believe it is in the same location, just rebuilt for the new restaurant. The outside building seems to block more of the view of Mexico. It's an ugly eyesore. I don't hear people talking about that alot though?

That's one vote for it's the same location and one vote for it's not the same location. Anyone know for sure?

They are two separate restaurants in the same building. However, Hacienda is closed for lunch, and the Cantina uses the Hacienda's indoor seating at that time.

They sit back to back by the water. We have eaten at both and really enjoyed them. La Hacienda is much better than San Angel Inn.

The two restaurants are in the same building, on the water, in front of the Mexico pavilion. La Hacienda does not serve at lunch, only dinner. The Cantina is the quick serve option with outside service windows. La Hacienda is a full service dining option for dinner.

The picture you posted was the interior of La Hacienda.

The building houses both the Cantina and La Hacienda, but they are two separate restaurants with two separate entrances. I have only seen the Cantina--haven't eaten there--but that's where the patio seating is. La Hacienda is an internal dining room and much more upscale. The door is next to a small fountain on the walkway facing the Mexico pavilion and there is a podium where the Cast Members who take reservations stand next to it. It's (the entrance) actually fairly nondescript and I passed it twice earlier in the day thinking it was closed before realizing they were actually open (despite the fact that there were Cast Members standing there). We ate there in October for the soft opening and the food and service were spectacular.

OK, that is the information I was looking for. We ate at the Cantina (kids had a snack of nachos) while there in December. We had a reservation at La Hacienda a few days before and were really looking forward to it but I came down with food poisoning a few hours before so we had to cancel and then could not get reservations for the day we went back to Epcot and ate at Biergarten.

Anyway, we sat inside when we were at the Cantina and I was not impressed with the ambience. I can't believe that is La Hacienda. We were going to make La Hacienda a priority on our next trip but now I am not sure. We love good Mexican food.

We thought it was quite nice in the evening, when it was open to only La Hacienda guests who were there for dinner. The food was very good and it was very quiet and serene inside. Also, there were fantastic views of IllumiNations through the windows and they lowered the lights while the show was going on. We'd definitely eat there again, but YMMV.

My husband and I also enjoyed the ambiance and our meal was delicious. I was very surprised to see so many negative reviews of La Hacienda. :confused3 We ate there on October 8, 2010 and it had not been open very long. Our service was a bit slow, but we were in no hurry. We also didn't care about Illuminations viewing (prefer to be outside for it) although we had a waterfront table. :thumbsup2

Can you still get a cs meal at the cantina and sit at tables by the water to watch illuminations?

The Cantina is still open and has outdoor seating for Illuminations. The seating is more limited now though or at least appears to be from what we saw.
