My daughters are 3 and 5 -- would you take them on Kali if they are tall enough? They tend to be kind of timid.

I would never make a kid ride a ride, but if they see it in person and want to give it a try, I would let them ride, especially if they enjoy getting splashed and/or soaked. It's not particularly scary or rough IMO but the rocking and turning of the boat might worry some kids. For the record, each of my DDs rode it when they were small. DD10 had just turned 4 and she absolutely loved it, and she's my nervous one. DD5 was about 3.5 when she rode it and was just okay with it, but she wasn't scared and we certainly didn't force her on it.

Thanks -- that's helpful. Like you say, we might wait and see what they think when they see it...

My kids were 3 and 5 when we went in 2012 and we couldn't get them off Kali River Rapids. My daughter (the 3 yr old) said it was her favorite ride of the entire trip--including Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, SeaWorld, Discovery Cove, Hollywood Studios....!

I hope that's the case for us! My husband and I both want to try it out -- it was closed for refurb last time we were at Disney.

Its really not to rough or scary at all, BUT be sure that they know that they will most likely get hit with some pretty big splashes and get pretty wet. Some kids think that is so fun...mine...and other will be not too happy. Depending on the time of year, getting wet can be great or pretty awful. Be sure that they have on shoes that can get wet and dry quickly. My DN got terrible blisters one year when he had on tennis shoes on this ride. If it is cool to cold, a change of clothes is necessary. Even in Summer, consider the planning of indoor dining after this ride, air can be quite cold wet. I LOVE this ride but we go winter and have not chosen to ride it in a long time:sad1:

We did this with my 4 and 6 year old. The rafts have a seating place with an extra safety bar for a small child, so my youngest got that seat. They both loved the ride! Since my 4 year old was adamant that she not get her clothes wet, we brought her swimsuit and did a quick change for her in the restrooms. Afterwards she changed back to her dry clothes, which worked out great. BTW, she was too scared for Splash Mtn, but was not scared at all about Kali. No big mountain drop, no problem!

Ah yes, Splash Mtn is the other one i don't know if they'll want to try but I hope so!

It is fairly mild but yep you will get soaked. My dd did splash mountain at just shy of six and loved it. ;)

one thing that can cause problems with 2 younger kids on Kali is if one is short enough to need the bar and other is not. our younger one was upset that he needed the bar and his brothers did not. he loved the ride just not being different. also we had to have child with band, ie short, load first to get right seat.

If they want to go on and are tall enough, it is perfectly OK for young children. There is only 1 "big" hill and that is not that large. My kids have gone on since they were young and were never scared. You will get WET! Have fun.

Our DS is very timid about rides. He was hesitant about Kali because he didn't want to get wet, so when he was 4 we told him he could wear a poncho and laugh at us when we got wet. On his first ride, I got absolutely drenched. He was beside me and got a few splashes even with the poncho, but he thought it was hilarious that I was so wet. He enjoys the ride, but still insists on wearing a poncho.

He won't try Splash Mountain, though. He says the drop looks too scary. Too bad, because it's my favourite attraction and I'd love to ride it with him.
