Hi and welcome to the DIS!
January is in my opinion the very best time to visit Disney with the exception of the end of October(we LOVE
the MNSSHP-the most fun ever!)
We have gone at the beginning, middle and end of January and the best time to go in my opinion would anytime the last 2 weeks of the month. If you go in the beginning you get the left over crowds from Christmas and New Year's and it is still pretty crowded(for that time of year
) but the Christmas decorations are still up and very pretty but by then I am just NOT in the mood for Christmas anymore!
DO NOT go anywhere near MLK weekend...you WILL be sorry! We went this past January and it was AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!
The time we went during the last week of January was the best.
ABSOLUTELY NO CROWDS!
Now, that being said it was 7 years ago for that trip and IMHO people have started going year round more the past few years and are not following the typical school schedule. We homeschool so we don't care!
Even though that seems to be the case now, based on our trip in Oct. 07 and Jan. 08 we still think January is the best time to visit WDW because of low crowd levels and cool temps. Some days were jeans, short sleeves and a jacket and others were shorts, tees and a jacket. All of Disney's pools are heated so you can enjoy the pools just as you would any other time of year! I don't really know of ANY downsides! Perfectly comfortable weather with no humidity and the best part hardly any wait times! It almost seemed deserted when we went in Jan. 01!
Best of luck and happy Dissing!
