Is iTunes the only online place to buy movies for the iPod Touch?

I thought at one time you could also buy movies from Amazon and Wal-mart to view on the iPod but I could not find any option showing that? Is there another online site to buy movies from? I planned on allowing DD9 and DD7 to purchase 1 movie each (that can be shared) =) just wondering thank you.

The quick answer is yes. You can either purchase movies/TV directly from iTunes, or get a DVD with 'digital copy' that also authorizes via iTunes. Techie folk will say you can always rip/recode from your existing DVD's... But for the average folk, you buy the Apple hardware and you are then married to their store(although for music Amazon is a better deal for mp3's and are easily imported into your iTunes account). I've been quite happy with this model and upgraded from my Nano to a Touch a few years back.

Many of the new release movies have a "digital copy" available to go with them. I have Tangled, Cars 2, Monster's Inc, Toy Story 3, Lion King, and The Princess and the Frog. Sometimes you have to buy the more expensive 3D pack to get them :(

Since the movie industry is still blocking Apple from allowing re-downloads of movies into i-Tunes, I prefer to buy the disc and then rip my own DRM-free mp4. Either that or I buy the disc with the free digital download.

That way I automatically have the digital and the back-up copy and it usually doesn't cost more. I don't know, I'm probably breaking 312 DMCA laws by doing it, but it's just too hard to lose your digital media to computer crashes and changing technology. I get really tired of buying the same things over and over.

One word of warning, I'm started to see a lot of "Ultra-Violet" digital download offers with movies. Stay away from those.

I have to agree with RitaE. I use WinX DVD Ripper Platinum, which costs about $35, and then I can easily rip down any DVD that I own to watch on my iPod. I would consider this fair use under the copyright laws, as long as I am not distributing the files and I actually have purchased the original DVD.

what they said.
Although when I upgraded windows Handbrake wouldn't work anymore and now I use DVD Fab which is also free.

Just go to youtube and search how to do it. I watched a teenager talk me through the whole thing. :)

I use this software as well, which lets me load any of my dvds on my iPad. It's worth the cost; much better than the free ripping programs.
