Someone asked me this question yesterday when I mentioned I was planning for our next trip to WDW. Interesting question I thought because I wonder how many go for the kids or go for themselves.

At our house not a day goes by that someone, me, DH or one of my DS doesn't utter the words WDW. Actually my boys are both doing speeches this year on WDW for school.

So my question families are obssessed with Disney vs how many have families that go along with their obssession?

Oh we ARE a Disney Obsessed family. Admittedly *I'M* the most, much more than DW, DS1, DD or DS2. BUT they are still all heavily into it. My oldest son is 15 and where his friends are all like "you're going to Disney .... again?" ... he's like 'uh yeah!? It's frikkin awesome!"

I definitely believe the obsession started with my husband and I. We went there on our honeymoon and our relatives laughed at us.:confused3 They can't seem to understand why we go there all the time.

We love Disney:cool1: . I think now my son and daughter are almost as obsessed as we are. However, they do not have that post Disney trauma like my husband and I have when we leave. They just look forward to the next trip. My husband and I always discuss the next trip before we leave the first one.

I have trips planned for the next 4 years:rolleyes1 :rotfl: :cool1: :upsidedow

My son gets the same question and he usually gives similar answer. "Yeah!, I can't wait!...then his friends say....I wish I can go..."

We get it from our family and friends as well. I just don't think they understand. But I always think, it's their loss:sad2:

I think the whole family have to be Disney obsessed for them to go all the time!;)

Admittedly, I think I, too, am the most obsessed. I think it's because I'm the planner. And Loving it! :yay: :woohoo:

I'm the biggest WDW fan in my family. ds8 is a very close second.
dh and dd14 really enjoy it too, but not like ds and I. dh and dd14 rather go every other year, while ds and I could live there! heeheehee. Sandra

Obsession is not descriptive enough...:)
Its a need...a must....an uncontrollable urge (and any other similar description you can think of :goodvibes )

Our next trip is trip #16 as a family. The kids are now 17 and 15 and their passion for all things Disney is no less than what it was for them as youngsters.
And ,yes.......the old yins are just as mad about it as the kids.
I think we all get the same response from family and friends when we book up our next trip, with the comment ,"Your going there again......haven't you seen it all before?". You cannot however, convince a "non-Disney-holic" that the last trip is just as magic as the first :thumbsup2

Well we only went for the first time in Nov so for now I don't know if I am a true Disney-holic or just feeling like I haven't seen it all. My Dh was there as a kid but it was really different for him when we went with our children. Watching their faces was so exciting for us. Disney is a daily topic around here and I've planned trips for this year with just the girls and next year for the family but I'm trying to move it up to this year !! Have to figure out how to do it ;) I'm seriously considering becoming DVC owners but I think I will wait until after the girls trip as it will be my first staying on site.

My 2 year old is very obsessed with Disney and Mickey Mouse and now Toy Story.

I would say DH and I are split 50/50... but DS (turning 2 Feb 22nd) is already happy to point out the Disney Store is NOT Mickey's House! :cool1:

We definitely have been bitten by the Disney bug! In just four weeks, we are going to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We are going alone--no kids! Our family is obsessed but I think my DH and I are far worse than our kids. They are actually young adults and they love Disney, but they don't have the obsession quite as badly as their parents!:goodvibes

It's our kids who want to go. Our second daughter (age 5) has never been and suggested we go there when we were talking about this year's family trip. Honestly, I was not looking forward to the planning and expense involved, however, I am now a Disney obsessed mom who can't wait to get there! This board had so much to do with it - the tips on saving money and doing Disney are just unbeatable.

But on stormy winter days like today, I sure wish we had decided to go on a Caribbean cruise. :goodvibes

I couldn't say it any better than what you said wee-haggis! I had been to DL twice and WDW once in the early 1990's and absolutely loved both. But after getting married, moving half way across the country and back again, and having kids, the Disney magic somehow got lost. It wasn't until we started planning our first family trip last year that I got bit by the bug again, and boy has it bit hard this time. I am definitely the big Disney fan in our household. Both of my kids are as well. They talk about it daily as well and like doing reports and different things at school where they can talk about their trip. I'm trying to convince DW that she is a fan too! I think I was trying to plan our next trip before we even left WDW last May. I'm still trying to plan and hopefully will have something figured out for a trip early next year.

Well it is all in the family in our house. We all love going to see the mouse so much so that our 5 and 6 year olds figure that is our annual family holiday they rarely go anyplace else with us as a family that is it. They go camping with their mom in the summer but as a family we only ever travel to Disney World.

First trip as a family in 2005 I went for the kids.
Now can't wait for our next trip back to Disney!

It's definitely me - when we take the kids, I'm the one running to the parks and posing for character photos while they sleep in and play at the pool. We've really spoiled the kids with our DVC membership because they've been often, and enjoy the resorts so much the parks are second for them. Not for me though!

In my family of 4... the obsessed one is me for sure with my DD9 VERY close behind.

In 2005 we went for our first family of 4 trip. At that point we had not been there in about 7 years. My DH totally hated it:scared1: it was too hot and too crowded. Plus we were there for our DD15's dance convention so there were lots of dance things going on. That trip put me completely over the edge in love with all things Disney. Then in Feb 2007 I surprised my younger daughter with a secret trip, just the 2 of us and that sent her over the edge with me.

In August 2007, the whole family went again and I converted DH:woohoo: You know the saying about winning a man through his stomach....we had free dining. Enough said? He now loves the restaurants, waterparks and resorts. So much so that he is open to buying DVC.

That brings us to June 2008...our next trip...already booked. This time a dance convention for DD9.....14 days this time as requested by DH.

Definitely me.

The kids are both exceited about the pending trip... but DW... well, she's just not as Disneyfied. :confused3

Absolutely me!!!
The sons just know if they want to vacation with me it's either Disney or no vacation. :lmao: Seriously they are all old enough to vacation on their own but for some strange reason they come with me :confused3 .

Hugs Mel:hug:
