Is it worth it?

Back when CVG (Cincinnati) used to be a big Delta hub, it used to be the "connection" point between our home airport (LEX) and MCO. CVG is 90 minutes up the road. This is probably a decade ago, but I remember pricing flights and it was actually CHEAPER to fly LEX>CVG>MCO than to drive 90 minutes and fly CVG>MCO on the same flight.

I live about 20 minutes from CVG. And I remember when CVG was either the most expensive of second most expensive airport to fly out of. We flew very little back then.
Now we fly practically everywhere.

Nope. The amount of time spent would be 4 hr or more because its a round trip and you want to leave some extra time for travel issues. The traffic, wear and tear on the car plus the gas is not worth saving $200. Get a Disney visa spend $500 and they will give you a $300 credit on your acct.

We bit the bullet today and bought the tickets from the airport two hours away. Since my daughter and her family would have four tickets to buy, they’re saving $800 so it’s worth the drive. The flight is nonstop, and the times are good so no early mornings for us.

Oh, I'll always take a nonstop flight midday, at a farther airport, than a flight with stops at the airport closer to me. I think you made a great choice, and good on you for saving your daughter $800, whew!

I flew to Cancun last year, and although I live 10 minutes from my national airport, i chose to travel 90 minutes to another airport for cheaper, nonstop tickets (7 hours of travel time vs 3.5 hours nonstop!). It was absolutely worth it. On my way back from the airport post-trip, we were able to stop for fast food which is always a plus after a flight, in my opinion LOL
