Is it worth it to stay at yacht club or poly for all those points?

Okay, I'm confused. I thought you were saying you were booking for Memorial Day. That is only a couple WEEKS away, not 8 months away.

First of all, no, I do not think it is worth that many points to stay in a regular hotel room rather than a DVC resort. Deb & Bill is right about not being able to book that in the last 4 months of your use year, and if February is your use year, this month is DEFINITELY in the last 4 months of your use year.

Are you perhaps confusing use year with booking windows? To be at the 7 month booking window, a reservation for May 26 would have been made October 26th.

If a use year is February, that means it goes from February to January. How is May in the last 4 months of a Feb. use year? I figure May is in the first 4 months of the use year, not the last 4.

I have own at okw and boardwalk. I have traded points for a cruise but never to stay at a hotel room. It always seemed to me that it was the resort I was after not the size of the room. I try to spend as little time in the room as possible. Do most people spend more time in the room since they are condo's

The boardwalk area is our favorite which is why we bought there a few years ago when disney was selling it out.

planning a 6 day stay and the yacht club and polynesian are so many points, especially weekends. Since all villas are booked for memorial weekend, these are an option for me to use my points. has anyone stayed here, what did you think. with yacht club you can use the sab pool at beach club. poly seems to have a lot of activities? Is it worth all those points?

I would personally either bank the points for next year... or rent them and pay cash for your Memorial Day vaction.

The Yacht club is very nice and its great area. I've stayed for cash for a wedding..but not on points. Unless you have to use the points or lose them..I would probably bank them for next year..have enough for a nice stay in a 2 bd room (or even a grand villa) (I have no idea how many points you have ;) ) so you can experience the real value of the DVC.

Just my opinion.

We've used points to stay at GF & AKL (before DVC) for 2-3 nights when we couldn't get DVC rooms anywhere else for part of our trip. It was a nice splurge, but the $95 is ridiculous IMHO & we WON'T be doing that anymore.

I stayed at YC (not on points) a few years ago and really felt like it was more like a non-Disney property. Sure, there was a little theming, but the room was just a Hilton or Marriott dressed up. There are NO (as in NONE, 0, nada) counter service areas, so you have to leave the resort if you want quick food. If I hadn't been staying at a really good convention rate, I'd have been an unhappy camper. I would definitely say NO, it is not worth the points.

YC and BC are attached... and almost just one resort. Beaches & Cream is right were the two come together... and they have a counter service area. Also... there is a food pavillion out at the shared pool which is also counter service.

Beaches and Cream does not allow take out except for ice cream (and often has a long wait for a table) and the pool food area closed at 5pm. It was a REAL problem trying to feed my family while still covering my convention booth. According to the concierge desk, "For quick service food after the pool area is closed, you has to leave the YC resort".
