Is it worth it to have a photographer at Dessert Party?

We are trying to decide if we should book our photographer to come to our dessert party "welcome party", the night before our wedding. I have seen some beautiful photographs w/ brides and grooms and the fireworks, but since we will not be in our wedding attire, do you think the photos will be just as good and is it worth an extra $250 ??

We had a photographer at our Illuminations Dessert Party and I am so glad we did. The pictures of DH and I are so beautiful with the fireworks in the background and the action shots of our family and friends are GREAT. I didn't see half of what was going on around me and it was all caught in the photos for me. I highly recommend it.
I love to go back and look at the pictures and it brings me right back to that day.
Ours was a Welcome Party also, it was the night before our Wedding so we didn't have our Wedding attire on.

Thank you JoD, that is definitely what I wanted to hear, I just needed to know that someone else thought it was "worth" it!!

I held a Welcome/Dessert Party on the night before my vow renewal. I hired Disney to take photos of it, and I was awfully glad I did. It's wonderful having professional photos to remember my event by.

Janet2K ~ your pictures are wonderful -- i feel even better about my decision!

You're welcome. I considered hiring a videographer for my party but knew the location was too dark & intimate for it (I'd held a party in that same venue a few months prior so I had personal experience with the location). My fear with a videographer was that the camcorder's light would have been too obtrusive for my guests. Photographs were the perfect compromise since most people don't mind the flash of a camera.

Of course, that was my decision and other folks will make other decisions, as it should be. ;)

Janet2K...great pictures... :thumbsup2 ..I have to say..I think you are the most helpful person on these whole boards...Because of your wonderful posts and pictures I have booked several activities for my dd and I just loved your trip reports...so detailed :wizard:

I would love to be able to plan so many wonderful events ...but until I hit the lotto I will live precariously through your wonderful reports....I can dream :teeth:

thanks Janet for your many helpful posts... :thumbsup2

I wish we would have done. We had our reception at the American Adventure at Epcot, and for a while Disney wasn't going to allow us to go outside into the crowd as they had no official dessert party locations left.
Well anyway, on the night they roped off an area for us otherwise we would have struggled for us all to see the illuminations through those small windows, and it isnt the same watching from inside. That's why I never booked my photographer to stay. I wish I had as he would have done some beautiful fireworks shots & also done some lovely shots inside the room, it was so beautiful in there.
I would book it.

Thanks for the kind words, Tinker74. I wish I got a commission for those bookings. ;)
