We are going to be in Disneyland from June 4-7.
We have reserved a WOC dining package at the wine country trattoria.
Do you think it is worth it?
Can we get as good a seats for it if we do not have it?
THanks for any help in this regard.
It will be me, my wife and three boys ages 8, 4, and 4 months.

Ive never done dinig package but i always do Picnic option. This is because I dont want to waste valuable park time waiting in line for a fast pass. I personally think you can get a good section with or with out either dining or picnic options.

I think it depends on what your view point of "worth it" is.
For me, I chose to do it because not everyone with me can make it to rope drop the day I will be going. I also need the first show for my son, who will not make it until the second show. Having a dining package ensures that I get the show I want, and I don't have to rush everyone into the park that morning to get their fastpasses.
You have to eat and I like sit down restaurants, so to me the show is a bonus!

The dining package is only worth it, IMO, if you invest the time to find out the good viewing spots, make your dining reservation early enough so you have time to arrive at the WOC queue, and invest the time to wait. Otherwise it is not worth it for many people.

the view is very good from the dining option but with that being said i like the picnic option better and the view from the yellow in front of the rail was great.

we will do the picnic again in july

we just didnt care for the food for the dining from wct

We had dinner at Ariel's at 7, wandered and did stuff until 8:45 and got great spots with a terrific view for the 9:15 show on Tuesday. Dinner was amazing! I'm from the SF bay area and the cioppino at Ariel's was good enough to impress me. :)

I agree, if you're able to get there at rope drop to run over for FP's, then no. Even staying on property, we're never ready for the day at park opening, so for us it's never an option. I would do the restaurant, but not the picnic again. Just the overall quality and value is better. And yes, I second the thought we need the first show, having a younger one who needs to be in bed by 9.

We used it a couple of weeks ago, had dinner at Ariels. We got to the area 1 hour before and got a spot right behind the railing on the second level. Terrific view!

One warning about Ariels - we had an outside reservation thinking it would be nice to sit outside, it's covered if it rains. It turned out to be 90 degrees plus that day, we had a 5:30 reservation and where we were sitting the sun was beating down. We asked to move and the second spot was OK at first but as the sun moved it was the same situation.

We saw WOC on January and was SOOOOOO glad I didn't waste any money on food to get a FP. We sent one runner over to get them while the rest of us were at DL. We got a good spot in the Blue section and we really didn't wait all that long. And the show was just OK. I'd rather spend the money on the F! dessert box!

We did it Ariels WOC dinner at 5pm last summer and totally thought it was worth it! It was DH, me, and our two 17 year old boys. We all loved the food, the relaxed atmosphere out on the deck overlooking the water, and we got a great spot. We were at the front railing of the preferred area. We weren't first in the crowd at waiting to go into the area, but we still got the railing.

It was worth it for our first time seeing WOC. We all loved WOC way better than F! That said, we can't do that every trip so this time we will just get FPs for it and see where we end up. Since we've seen it, I'm not as worried about getting an amazing spot.

I just made reservations for Ariel's Grotto WOC for July. They asked if we wanted to be seated inside or out? I said inside as it is the summer, hot ect but what is the real difference?

We loved sitting outside at AG last summer for WOC! Hot? Not really. Fresh air! Lots of it. :)

It depends on where you are seated outside at Ariels. And the time of the day, and time of year I guess.

We were put on the side of the restuarant, below the bar. This was a problem with the sun, and we were on the inside row, right next to the building wall. People sitting in the area that sits perpendicular to the restaruant, were at a different angle and seemed perfectly comfortable.

I was ticked because I asked to be seated out of the sun, that was my only request. I was miserable, it was not the temperature, it was just feeing the sun beating down on me the whole meal. I never ate there before, did not understand the set up, etc.

We did the WCT in February. They didn't have any indoor tables available. We were in a "traffic zone", not sheltered from the wind, not near a heat lamp - our food got cold quickly and we were basically miserable. I'd do the picnic meal again - just not the dinner package.

Last year we needed an extra ticket after I had pre-reserved what we thought had been our party size for the picnics since we didn't know about the on-site perk for FP's and didn't want to stand in line at the time. So DH 'took the bullet' and got the WCT dinner and he had a wonderful dinner and had a better spot for WOC than the rest of our party. Not sure I would pay $40/each for all of us, but for him it was very cool and we do plan on going back to WCT for a non-prix-fixe meal since he enjoyed the food very much.

The picnics were tasty but pretty basic (American one was the best by consensus since we all kinda shared-family-style and had a bite of each, and our group likes all varieties of food). The picnics were worthwhile to us for the time saved had we not been staying on-site. (Or if we'd known sooner about the perk but the show was pretty new then.)

My opinion is the picnic lunch is the better value, especially if you purchase online. If you do, you get a reusable tote bag with each meal purchased in addition to the food, drink and fast pass. It really is one of the best deals in the parks for food.
