My 12 year old just got her first cell phone and I'm questioning whether I should bother getting her ipad fixed. She dropped it a few months back after her father :rolleyes2 jumped out from behind something and scared her so bad she dropped it! (husbands). It works perfectly, but she hasn't touched it since she got her phone.

However the other day, she added to her wishlist that she'd like her ipad fixed AND she'd like a case that has a keyboard for it. This is the ipad 2 with wifi. Nothing fancy and I'm just wondering how much it might cost to fix it (iDropped place at the mall is where I'd go) and if you think it's worth doing??

Check out YouTube to see if there are any videos on how to do it yourself. I know there are some for iPhones (we replaced a screen on my son's once), maybe there are for iPads too. We bought parts online (including a tool to open it up) for a very inexpensive price and they said it was really easy to fix.

So...did it work for you? Was it fairly easy? Yes, I see those types of kits on ebay when I look.

There is a company online that replaces ipad screens called iMaster Repair. You mail it to them and they will repair it and mail it back. I did this last year and it was very reasonably priced for mine, comparatively speaking. I priced it locally and through Apple and this place was half that. They had good feedback, too. Mine was a fairly new iPad Air and it was definitely worth replacement cost.

For an older iPad, I might go as the pp suggested and try it myself, as it might not be worth the price from iMaster Repair for an older one. It also depends on whether or not the LCD is damaged--doesn't sound like it is on yours, so figure around $95.

I think it's worth getting the screen repaired. I had my grandson's iPad 2 screen replaced by iMaster Repair for $80.00. They did a great and fast job.

Repairing yourself is always a lot harder than it looks. I wouldn't attempt this.

I used an online place called IResQ for my DS itouch.

I was extremely satisfied with price, service & speed of repair.

Yes, it was very easy for them to do. Didn't take long at all.

My DH just replaced the screen of my iPad 2 this week. DD dropped it last weekend. Kit cost less than $30 on amazon. It took him about 1.5 hours to get the old screen off and the new screen on, but that's because the old screen was shattered in tons of pieces. iPad is now as good as new (and in a new sturdier/more protective case).
