Is it worth a try?

I really want to take my fiance to Chef Mickey's for dinner on the night we arrive in orlando as a surprise, but they are fully booked. I've heard of people with an ADR going over and actually getting a table. We arrive this friday night. Would it be worth it to go to the contemporary to try and get a table? Is earlier better than later to do this?

Never mind. Either they have really really amazing cast members working at disneyworld or luck just went my way. I called just fifteen minutes ago, and managed to get a reservation for 2 at Chef Mickey's on Friday night. I'm so excited.
