Is it wise to bring a BC for an almost 3 year old?

I don't think we'll have an issue with anyone second-guessing DD's age since she's pretty small, but she'll only be about a month from turning 3. I've heard lots of people bring their child's BC to prove their age. Should we bring DD's just in case or are we fine without it?

Personally, I carry BCs and passports for my children at all times, but that is because they were adopted from another country and are a different race from me. I never know when someone may question them being with me, so I carry proof they are in fact my children. Someone had problems with this crossing from Canada back to the US while we were adopting, so I don't take chances.

Anyway, I would likely bring their BCs even if that were not the case because my DD is only 25 months, but is the size of a 3-year-old. DS is 3 months older than DD, but everyone thinks she is a year older than him. If you are concerned, take it. Better safe than sorry.

My Son turned three while we were at Disney, but since he was two when we checked in he was treated like he was two the whole trip. We never had any problems getting him in the park, or not having a dinning plan for him. We did not bring a BC for him and no one ever asked. So bottom line I don't think you need it, but if it makes you feel better having with you then it would be one less thing to worry about, but I would bring a copy not orginal

Thanks! I really don't WANT to have to bring it if I don't have to. What happens if they do question her age? (even though I don't see that happening since like I said, she's small)

You won't need it for Disney but you WILL need it for the airport if you are flying.

Even if she already has her own seat? (the airline is 2+ so we had to buy her a seat) My other baby is only going to be 7 months so there won't be much to prove there even though she'll be a lap child.

I would bring it anyway. DS had his own seat for our return trip earlier this month but was a lap child for the flight down (he is 19 months old). We were asked for his BC both times when we checked in for our flight. I would rather have it and not need it. From what I understand they only "need" it when flying as a lap child but that wasn't our personal experience.

My son was 3 when we went. I took it but never needed it & we flew.

for disney's purposes I dont' think you'll need it - my nephew came with us last year about 2 weeks before he turned 3 and was never questioned. I think y ou'd only need one in 09 if you were going on a birthday and wanted the free promos they've got going on.

If you want it for the airport, would a photo copy work? I know it's not enough for an adult, but for a child I would think it might be enough.

We are taking my sons BC with us for the flight...even though it doesn't say anywhere on United's site that they need it. They also never said I needed it when I called to make sure he was listed on our itinerary as a lap child for the flights. But, better to be safe than sorry in my opinion.

Do you think, though, that it would even be worth them questioning since we purchased her a seat?

When we went in 2006 my DD had turned 3 the week before. Since most of the time she stayed in the stroller, they didn't even have us put her ticket in, they just opened the side entrance for our stroller. So I don't think it will be a problem. I think security has some many people in line that they aren't that concerned to stop and check every child's id.

(or maybe they will change the policy to raise more money and everyone under 1 has to buy a ticket:rotfl: )
