Ok sorry but after reading through this entire thread I have to say there really needs to be seperate threads for resort info that actually only gets updates about the resort and one for fans of a resort. Sorry but I'm looking for info on the AKL. I thought the review on Maryland was nice but I'm not going there. I'm going to Disney.

....everything you need to know about AKL is right in the first post on page one....:thumbsup2

Thank you all. I will try reading back on tr and old threads. I guess my biggest question is room location. Are all cl rooms in the same location?

They're all on the 4th floor. From what I remember, all the rooms face Arusha Savanna, and most were close to the lobby (probably to make lounge access, up on 6, convenient)...but I'm not sure if that's changed (the concierge allocation has changed more often than any other room segment at AKL).

Should I be making room requests?

I'd request Arusha savanna view, close to the lobby.

Are all of the resort activities geared towards children?

Yes and no. Pretty much all the activities allow the participation of children (with the obvious exceptions of the wine tastings, etc). However, you don't need to be a child to participate. You want to decorate a cookie? Go for it! We've done bunches of the activities and there are always couples and single adults participating. It's Disney! Harness that inner child!

We will be going as two adults, are there any adult activities?

The wine tastings are adult only. The evening Safari has a minimum age (I can't remember what it was). Most everything else is all ages.

I booked the morning safari. Am I missing out terribly if we don't do the evening with Jiko's safari?

The morning safari, unless things have changed, are at AK. It's basically Killamanjaro on steroids (you stop a LOT more and take a lot slower pace) with breakfast.

The evening Safari is out on the Sunset Savanna at the Lodge...and includes Dinner at Jikos (which, in and of itself, I wouldn't miss).

They're VERY different, both very cool. If I had to choose...I'd do the evening one....especially as a couple. More romantic, IMHO.

I was thinking to do the wild trek I think its called in the park but need to see if DF is feeling it.

If you do the wild trek....you could probably skip the CL Sunrise safari.

We have some dining reservations including Sanaa, Jiko's, Citrico's and some others as well as a few food and wine activities booked. I know it sounds like I already have a lot but usually we open and close the parks I'm determened not to do that this time. Am I missing anything that is really specific that I should ask CL to book? I can't think of anything else.

Narcosee's is also good, as is Artist's Point. The best is Victoria and Alberts...but it means dressing up.

You also might want to consider an illuminations Cruise. Very romantic!

...or, you could opt for something as simple as a bottle of wine enjoyed in one of the hot tubs.....

...of course, there is always the spa, so you may want to book a massage....;)

I hope you get some good sleep before you go. Pets do understand packing. I hope Beauty doesn't do too badly with your departure.

I have just over two weeks until I leave!

I *think* she'll be ok, once she gets to playing w/the other dogs every day...I'm the one thats going to be a mess dropping her off:sad1:

this morning David and I went to Brunch in accordance with the Baltimore Beer Week, and had a wonderful farm to table meal, with lots of beer, I think we have tot take a nap now... will catch up later....:scared1:

Glad you had fun, and the pics are great!:thumbsup2

I completely agree with this. We did all three this past January. We loved all three and will repeat them all at a later time, but if you don't want to overload the DF then I'd choose the evening safari (Wanyama Safari) The intimacy of the tour is just fabulous, a giraffe literally had her head in our truck. If you go back a few pages I posted an extensive description on the Wild Africa Trek. The one and only drawback is that it is a fixed menu.

Kim - now you have done it, you have two Marylanders not working at the same time!

I thought I quickly check in. We are back from the cruise and are now back at Disneyland. Our vow renewal was on Sunday and was amazing. We were supposed to have it in the office of the Pastor, but it ended up taking place in the Chapel in the Sky, which is one of the wedding venues at Crystal Cathedral. This was such a lovely surprise. You can see some preview photos here:

It is the same link as last time, but there is now a second gallery with the vow renewal photos.

We had another lovely surprise when we checked into our hotel room. We have a fantastic view. We are looking straight at Mickey's Funwheel. We get a pretty good view of World of Colour from our balcony. We are sitting on our balcony now having coffee.

Yesterday we had a non-park day. Among other stuff, we visited Walt Disney's burial site. That was pretty neat. Today we are having a lazy morning, but then we will head to Disneyland for Mickey's Halloween Party this afternoon.
