Just wanted to wish Wendy good luck and I am thinking of her big time

Sorry I have been gone so long Haven't had a lot of time and or energy...With almost 500,000 people in MA having been out of power (not me, we're fine) work has been an absolute disaster...People that have worked there for 20 yrs said this was the busiest they've ever seen it Still trying to recover from working the overnights over the weekend, still messes me up...And this was supposed to be the last weekend, nope, I've got to do this coming weekend also. As they fired the last new guy, the hired another one, but he's not ready to be on his own yet.

Missing WDW big time, can I turn back the clock? Might be 2 yrs before I get back

Hi!

I'm wondering if any AKL experts can answer a couple of questions for me!
First, if we reserved standard view rooms, what would the general distance to the main lobby, and the bus stop be? We would be traveling with my parents, who both have some mobility issues. Is it roughly a 5 minute walk.... or can it be like some of the moderates where you could end up 15 minutes from anywhere?

Also, is there a "kiddie pool"? My kids are 5 & 7, but they honestly like to hang out in the smaller pool areas better.

There is a small kids' pool at Jambo House. (I remember because when I passed it on my way back to my room, my phone decided to jump out of my pocket & take a swim! ) The pool is also "zero entry" so they could sit in the water at the edge of the pool.

Thanks! That's good to know about the "zero entry". Both of my girls are very cautious, so I think that would work out well for them.

If I'm figuring things correctly from looking at the resort map... would all of the standard view rooms have to be in the giraffe trail or the ostrich trail? That's what it appears to me.

Good morning! My morning is wonderful! Getting ready to head over to Epcot. I can't believe how quickly this trip is going! Would it be possible to slow down time for just a little?

Third day home due to no power at my school. Fortunately we never lost power at home. I am starting to panic about my lesson plans. I had everything perfectly planned so the sub would not have to introduce anything new while I'm in Disney, but this is messing everything up!

Yikes! At least you have power at home and you are going to Disney!

Thanks, it's a drag, but the doctor is going to extend the IV antibiotics another 3 days, then go to oral antibiotics. It's for the better.

Not sure about all the standard rooms, but when we went last year, we had a standard room that overlooked the entrance to the Lodge. It was a very convenient location--close to the elevators, short walk to everything.

I have DS3, DS6 and DD8 and they LOVE the pool at Jambo because of the zero entry. My DS3 usually just stays at that section of the pool and has a great time.

As for the standard rooms they could be anywhere in the resort so I would probably request to be near the lobby otherwise you might see how big the resort is.

Yes, hair dryers in the rooms.

The Mara is the quick service restaurant at AKL and is open from 6:30am to late into the evening (usually 11pm). Lots of food options there!

You should "link" the 2 reservations - that's the best way to ensure they will be in the same vicinity. The owner of the points may have to do that for you.

Online check-in may save you a few minutes when you arrive at Jambo House, but it isn't necessary. I prefer to do it since it allows me to put a credit card on file without someone having to swipe my card, plus you can tell them your expected arrival time.
