Jambo!

I'm so excited that I can finally join this thread! My parents and I have decided to try out the Animal Kingdom Lodge for half of our April 2012 WDW vacation! :goodvibes

We will be staying at the lodge from April 20th - 25th, in a Standard Club Level room. (The second half, April 25th - 30th, will be at the Beach Club, Club Level as well).

Just a few questions:

1. All the Standard Club Level rooms are located on the 4th floor and are all savanna view, correct? Does anyone know the approximate location of the rooms? Which trail etc. My understanding is Zebra and Kudu trail, in the areas closer to the lobby? That would be the Arusha savanna right?

2. Could anyone point me in the direction of recent AKL Club Level reviews? And some pictures of the room views?

We have visited the lodge on many occasions, mainly to dine at Jiko. But in May 2011 we happened to visit earlier in the day and we were amazed by the pool area! It looks fantastic. We also love the possibility of seeing giraffes, zebras etc from our balcony.

DMom has a VERY sensitive sense of smell. Has anyone ever noticed an odor from the savanna? I have assured her that there won't be any smell, as we have visited Animal Kingdom dozens of times and there is no discernible smell there either.

I can't believe my ADR booking date is just 10 days away! Gotta get planning :thumbsup2

I have added you to the list...

If you look at my TRs from 2009, and 2010, you will see CL rooms, views and CL offerings...

OK, who's trying to drive me nuts :dance3: (not a long trip, BTW!)? Who changed the thread's title, when and why??? Or was it just to see if we were paying attention?

And look at my ticker -

2 DAYS TO GO!

Hooray! You're going to LOVE AKL!!! No smell that I ever noticed, and I've got a sensitive sniffer also.

To those that are traveling to the World soon,:banana::banana:

Thanks! I figured if there was no "zoo smell" at Animal Kingdom that there certainly wouldn't be one at AKL.

Another general question to the thread. Do the rooms at AKL have flat screen TVs now?

Like this picture I found on a Google image search:

The bedspreads in that shot don't look right, but I haven't seen enough pics of the rooms to know.

Yes, flat screens in the rooms. :thumbsup2

That is the bedspread, but that picture seems to have an orange cast to it (my camera does that too when the lighting isn't quite right)!

Welcome! You and your family will love the lodge! It's such a vibrant and wonderful place! The CL offers such fun and interesting choices too! You'll be leaving the day before we arrive. We're staying at Kidani & BLT for a week.

...orange, schmorange - I'd sleep in it ANY DAY!

His assignment is merchandising which was his first choice. Where is your daughter working? Is she enjoying her time there? My grandson is already talking about extending and he isn't even there yet!

My daughter works at Cosmic Rays in Magic Kingdom. I think four of her roommates work in merchandising (There are 8 in the apartment). One is at the Emporium, two are in DTD and one in Hollywood Studios. There is one that I am not sure where she works.

There is a big CP area on Facebook. DD met two of her now roomates on there.

Hope everyone is having a good day! I'm having a great day cuzz .......

look at my ticker!!! :yay::yay::yay:

:dance3: And congrats to your grandson on being in the CP!

We stayed at AKL Villas Jambo house Sep 23-27. We got a surprise upgrade from our savannah view deluxe studio to a one bedroom savannah view villa. Loved it. I doubt that I will have a chance to write a review as I am very busy at work and I am getting ready to go to Hawaii in a few weeks and trying to get those plans finalized.

I do however love to take photos. Here is a link to the over 400 photos I took.

I will close by saying that I loved AKL and we agreed that we will be back there. Enjoy!!

That is some great pixie dust. I will have to go check out the pics after.
