VERY wet down here at WDW....we haven't floated away yet, but I'm thinking of building an ark so I can start loading animals.

I can't wait for vacation, 6 more days I hope I dont get sick leading up to it Working this overnight shift on the weekends is insane, I'm not getting the sleep I need before the shift starts, and I'm not getting enough sleep when I get back
I've got the overnight shift again tonight...Then I'm off tomorrow, work my normal 3pm-11pm Tues, Wed, Thurs, then I'm on vaca and I leave early Sat morn.

Almost all finished packing, well bringing things to the suiitcase in the basement...I've been told pets understand packing, and I dont want to freak Beauty out...I'm already a wreck about leaving her for so long

I think I found the other thread. It looks like it hasn't been updated in some time. Your right that I thought this was the resorts thread. I deffinetly will post something once we are back but I'm still in final planning mode. Thank you.

If you do have any questions just ask - we'll try to answer them!!! We are all friends here and like Brandi said, we DO talk about our lives etc..... - but we DO also talk about our love for the lodge and many things concerning the lodge - we'd love to have you stick around. Sorry but I'm looking for info on the AKL. I thought the review on Maryland was nice but I'm not going there. I'm going to Disney.

Hello fellow AKL lovers! Has anyone also stayed at Bay lake tower? I am dvc and have stayed at AKL for most of my trips because it is my absolute favorite!! I am planning an upcoming trip for february and the bf wants to try bay lake tower. I am up to try it, but am afraid nothing will compare to akl and it will ruin my experience at blt. Any lovers try another resort for the first time and miss akl terribly? or should i suck it up and do a split stay? Thanks for your help!

We stayed one night at BLT in April,2010. We spent our first 9 nights at AKL and then moved to BLT. It was the first time staying at both but I did not like the decor of BLT. It was just so BLAH.... and everything just seemed too sterile.

We are home from our topsy-turvy F&W trip. It was wonderful getting to meet those of you at BC and I was so sorry to miss my good friends Diana and Kathy at AKL.

We had a different kind of trip, to be certain. Not as magical as we would have hoped, but it did get better as the week progressed. Disney does know how to train its CMs... they were wonderful.

Welcome home but sorry to hear about your problems at the SSR.

Wow!! Actually that thread is closed and the information on it was pretty old from 2007 originally and towards the end of the thread it became a fan thread also. So its not really for anyone who has any questions.

For the record I really wasn't coming on here to ruin the party or interupt the converstion. I was and am looking for current information on the resort. We leave in less then a month and I can't find any current information on CL or resort activities everything out there on AKL is really old. I checked out the fan site and many pages are down and information is outdated. When I was deciding wich resort we would stay at I did look at the resort threads and have to say the other resort threads are maintained and current. Its a shame that with all the love for AKL it doesn't have a current thread.

Honestly I made the desicion to stay at AKL based on my personal experiences with staff and the look of the resort when we've gone to Sanaa and Jikos for dinner and was truly looking forward to preplanning that trip as much as any other trip I've taken any other year. Though I've spent less time planning this year I was looking forward to parusing the boards for updated info. I may have something to share once I've returned from the resort. Considering we are staying cl I guess I'll call them with my questions.

Thank you Tiggrbaby I've been keeping my eyes on that thread to see if anyone answers another dismembers questions re AKL cl posted a few days ago. I'll give cl a call in the morning I was trying to decide between the safaris but honestly I'm sure they can give me the most recent information. I was also trying to find out if all cl rooms are in the same area or if I should be making requests. Thank you though I do appreciate your trying to point me in the right direction.

I stayed AKL CL in 2009 and 2010. I have reviews of the food and offerings, along with the sunrise safari; all of these can be found in my TR's

Like I said just ask your question we are all very current on AKL.

Some of us were there just last week and others are going back in the next weeks...

I think I even have an AKL Happenings from last week with all the activities they offer.

My godson and his family will be there in Nov. so go ahead an ask...

Which many of the members of this thread would be happy to provide. But it's not meant to be the FAQ or "Unofficial" thread. It's meant to be what it is: A conversation thread. There IS a lot more activity on this thread than there was/is on the FAQ thread, though. That was the case even when before the FAQ thread was closed.

We leave in less then a month and I can't find any current information on CL or resort activities everything out there on AKL is really old.

You could ask here....most of us do know the Lodge and Villas pretty well...and we do ask/answer questions. The down side (if you consider it a down side....obviously we don't) is you'll have to read through the conversation to get to your answers. The flip side is: You could re-start the FAQ thread (or a new incarnation of it). I was a participant in the old thread...as were many of the posters here.

Thank you all. I will try reading back on tr and old threads. I guess my biggest question is room location. Are all cl rooms in the same location? Should I be making room requests? Are all of the resort activities geared towards children? We will be going as two adults, are there any adult activities? Any advice would truly be appreciated. We will be staying for a short visit this year only 6 nights and though I will have hoppers for the entire stay I really want to have this be a more layed back trip with lots of resort time. We are going to be looking at the a few potential wedding locations since I keep going back and forth between a park wedding or cruise wedding. I'm told (by df) that I have to decide and set a date by the end of this trip. Wish me luck with that.

I booked the morning safari. Am I missing out terribly if we don't do the evening with Jiko's safari? I was thinking to do the wild trek I think its called in the park but need to see if DF is feeling it. We have some dining reservations including Sanaa, Jiko's, Citrico's and some others as well as a few food and wine activities booked. I know it sounds like I already have a lot but usually we open and close the parks I'm determened not to do that this time. Am I missing anything that is really specific that I should ask CL to book? I can't think of anything else.

We've done the Wanyama (Sunset, resort, safari) twice because now it is open to all hotel guests. I'm not sure we'd do the Sunrise Safari again (OK of course we would!) but I much preferred the Wanyama safari. It was smaller, more intimate and you got really close to the animals and found out all about what it was like to be animal that lives at the lodge. There are really interesting facts about the animals and feeding and care that they share during this safari.

The thing I regretted about doing it was not being able to order off the menu at Jiko, not that they didn't bring us wonderful food, but there's something about being able to pick your food vs. having it brought to you. We're not doing the safari next next trip so that we can order off the menu since it's been about 10 years since we went to the restaurant and ordered off the menu.

If you think you will be coming back to the lodge, you can save the Wanyama Safari. If this is a once in a lifetime trip, you can't book the safari unless you are a guest, but you can book the Wild Africa Trek regardless of where you are staying. I hope this helps!

We go to Disney every year and have always stayed on site and done many of the behind the scenes/backstage tours. The choice to stay at AKL was mine DF prefers to be on the Monorail. I don't want to over do AK themed activities since I know he wanted to stay else where thats why I'm only picking one or two. I am partial to doing the breakfast safari and then doing the wild afrika trek. They are both in the park so I can probably schedule them both for the same day. Thanks for the info and the opinion.
