Is it true that about the Polynesian Club Level Lounge in reference to Beer?

A few weeks ago there was a thread where someone said in the Polynesian Club Level Lounge you have to ask for Beer and that your not allowed to bring back to your rooms. I am just wondering if that is true and if it is, why can't you bring Beers back to your room? On the Atrium Club Lounge at the Contemporary my family and I like to bring back 1 or 2 Beers to have later on in the evening, so I don't see why we can't do this at the Polynesian since we are paying for it in the price of the room.

We never drank beer, but I can't imagine the rules are any different than with wine, which I routinely took back to our room from the lounge. While you do have to ask the CM for the drink, they do not appear to care at all where you take it (i.e. back to your room, to the beach, etc.).

Thank you for that information. :thumbsup2

A few years back, beer was not out and guests did need to request it. But for perhaps 3 or 4 years it has been out just like the wine and cordials in the evening.

We haven't stayed in Hawaii in a year and a half but never had to request a glass of wine or cordial over quite a few stays there.:confused3

Well the only way we will find all this out is when my family and I will be there this December.

Well, we'll be there in October.;)

But I really think if there had been such a major change, we'd have heard about it on the DIS.

That's true because whenever there are any type of changes to WDW, it's usually been reported by someone on here.

Ahhh, after reading everyone's responses, I remember more about what the deal is with wine. During certain hours, they have wine and some cordials (don't ask me what as I don't drink those) sitting on the counter so you can help yourself. I don't think they have beer sitting out, but I know you can get it just for the asking. After the official "cocktail" hours, they remove the alcohol from the counter but you can still get it by request. That's how it was in May 2005 and again in May 2007, so I don't think anything has changed. I just forgot about the time when it's sitting out on the counter when I originally replied.

Sorry! Have fun on your trips everyone!

DH wants to know what kind of Beer the Poly CL has. Does anyone know? Just day dreaming as our trip is only 27 days away....:cloud9:

Beer is out between 5 and 7pm with the wine. There's Heineken, Amstel and Budweiser usually. They are not out when they change to spirits at 8pm but if you ask nicely they will get you a beer. We have never had a problem taking drinks back to our room. We can't wait to go back in October.

So between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM guests can take Beer themselves without asking for it?

we have brought beers back to our room at the WL BWI Poly GF and BC
They would give us a few if they werent out and if we wanted more we asked

During my stays at the Poly yes, I had to ask for the wine or beer but they didn't say I had to stay in the lounge to drink it. My DH and I would always get an extra glass of wine to take back to the room so we could sit on the balcony and relax.
