I have heard that you can ask for free cups of ice water from the counter service places in the theme parks. Is this still true???

Yep! :thumbsup2 Any place that serves fountain drinks will give you a glass of ice water. Different places give different sized drinks. We received everything from the small 10 oz or 12 oz cup all the way up to the really large 32 oz (?) size.

Just ask and they'll give them to you. We had those Britta filter re-usable water bottles and just dumped them in there. Worked great!

From the Disney's Mom Panel:

One of my best tips is that in any of the parks in Walt Disney World you can go to any Counter Service location (the fast food restaurants) and ask for a cup of water and ice and they will give it to you for free. You don't even have to buy anything to get your cup of water and ice!

YEP..no need to spend money on a free item. If you like to carry around a bottle just get your free cold icy water and dump it in your own bottle.

This is one of the best tips I've ever learned about on the DIS! We always go when it's hot so we are always very thirsty! This tip as saved us hundreds on drinks! I bring the Mia drops in my bag so if anyone doesn't like the taste of the water they can fix that!

I've never once been charged at any establishment (Disney or non-Disney) when asking for ice water. I'm not sure why people are surprised you can get free water at Disney.

Yes, and if there is a line, I've been told by CMs that there is no need to wait, just go up to the counter and ask. (I'd verify with each restaurant first, though, this was at CHH).

I brought lemonade packets to add to the water. They were lightweight and compact.

I've had some (non-Disney) places charge me 25 cents for water, even when purchasing other items at the establishment. I guess it's to cover the cost of the cup, lid, and straw.

You can get free water at any food place, not just Disney, although you are sometimes charged for the cup.

I was just coming to post the exact same thing.

In cold weather I enjoy a cup of hot tea. One time at Writer's Stop I ordered a tea but told the lady to keep the tea bag as I had my own that I preferred. I was totally ready to pay for it, but she would not take my money.

I don't know if it was just that cast member or if that's a policy. But my hot water was free that day.

Not just WDW, but any theme park in Florida will give you free water on request.

It's a State Law.

We've done this on every trip. Saves carrying water bottles around and keeps everyone well hydrated in the heat. Some people complain about the taste of the water, so you may want to throw some flavor packets/bottles in your bag or pocket.

And you may know this, but I'll pass it on anyway...
Club Cool at Epcot is a "soda sampling station" where you can try different flavors from around the world. At no cost.
They have about 6oz size cups if memory serves... And there are no limits on samples.
I think they'd put a stop to it if you tried to fill a take-out bottle though. :duck:

We stop in on every trip. Most flavors are pretty tasty and some friendly CMs made recommendations on which flavors tasted good in a blend. (Just, BEWARE the Beverly... :crazy2:)
