Is it true about the Fantasia Pool at ASMo?

I read somewhere that the Fantasia pool at ASMo would be under rehab starting in October... right at the time we are taking our first family trip with little ones who have seen the pool in pictures and can't wait to try it out! Does anyone know if this is true and have any info about our other pool choices onsite at the values? I know about the ducks 'quiet' pool. Any others? :confused3

:guilty: allearsnet.com shows:

The Fantasia Pool at All Star Movies will be closed for an extensive rehab from September 11 - December 11, 2006. All Star Movie guests can use the "quiet" pools as well as the main pools at the other All Star Resorts.

They also post a list of all the refurbs that will be going on throughout WDW thru July 2007 and beyond at this link:

The Fantasia pool will be closed as of Sept. 11 until Dec 11th for extensive refurbishment. I actually have switched out of ASMO for that very reason. I'm not paying for a preferred room if I can't use the pool! There is a small kiddie pool and the duck pond at ASMo and I 've heard that you can walk the extra walk over to ASMu and use their pools.
Sorry but after a day of walking the parks I don't want to have to tote my 3 little ones and my tired butt to another hotel to swim and then have to walk all the way back then getting reheated and tired all over again!!!
A few of us have been able to switch hotels for this reason with no problems. You can always upgrade or see if another Value has openings.
We do plan, however, to go over to ASMo at the end of our trip so our 3 DS can see the giant Buzz and Woody.
Good luck, sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

At least you will be able to see a bright and shiney Buzz Icon. It is suppose to be done. I would change hotels. After walking all day, a quick dip in the pool is what we enjoy - not another walk to the pool with kids and stuff, and then the walk back

Refurbs are a necessary and good thing until they happen during your time. That must be some refurb if its taking 3 months. What a shame, don't you know there are tons of people booked who don't read sites like allears or the dis and will have no idea until they get there.

Sad but true. We also were booked at Asmo as well. My kids were a little upset but seem ok now. We upgraded to porfq. It was tough. It seemed like the Cms were starting to get a lot of calls from upset people wanting to change. I also had paid for preferred and will not walk to another resort with six ducklings in tow! Plus I wonder if that will make those other pools busy. If they offer the same deal next year I hope to stay at movies again. Although on the resort thread someone said it was closed last Sept too? Not sure though. I know they have to close the pools sometime but Sept? When it is 100 degrees! Oh well, thankful Disney help me change.

That is a bummer for you guys :sad2: ! We were staying at the POLY one time and the Grand Floridian was having their pool serviced - it just looked ugly to have the big tent and pool closed. Takes away that magical feel - it is WDW and I kind of expect refurbishments to occur magically or something, you know? I mean, I realize they have to do it - but I love that sanatized Disney look of everything perfectly manicured - big reason I like to stay on property!

I know refurbs are necessary bue...why you arent told when you booked? And as someone already said, if you dont read any pages you know nothing... :sad2:

Venga,salu2.

I switched my booking too as soon as I heard, we're now at Pop. I agree though, if it weren't for the Dis I wouldn't know.

When we were there in May for 11 days .we were preferred room also.....the head people were in the pool almost every morning looking and measuring .....I think that they had a major leak someplace under ground.....When they were closed for repairs in early April I heard that they bussed the people to the other pools. The mighty ducks pool near those blds is not at all far. Our room was over there one of our visits...

The other pool (the Mighty Ducks pool) will be open. Maybe transfer from the preferred building to the 100 Dalmations building to be closer to that pool?

I just read this and found out that the pool will be closed during the time we are there. We have NEVER been to Disney and wanted our FIRST trip to be PERFECT. We were paying the extra for the preferred room location which I assume would be by the pool. I called to change the resort and the guy is trying to talk me out of changing saying that the All Star Movie Resort is the best and books up fast. He explained to me that the other resort pools where in walking distance. I have two small kids and I don't really want to make them walk a ways to the alternate pools. Does anyone have any advise on this and which Value Resort to change to? I would REALLY appreciate any help you could give.

Whew! I'm so glad I splurged and switched our reservation from ASMo to AKL for our trip in September. Having the main pool at a resort is a big inconvenience, at least for us!! My sympathies to everyone staying there with kids during that time.

Funny how the Castle being renovated while we're there in September doesn't seem so bad...but the pool?! That would be torture! :rotfl2:

I am totally on board with all of you saying it is a pain to trek over to someone elses pool after a hot day of touring. Our little girl was so excited about the 'mickey pool'... and we are in a preferred because they said there were no other rooms available. Big waste of preferred $. I'm just so bummed now. I really don't want to switch. How far is it to the other value resort pools? And who wants to get on another bus after taking them to parks and back?! What a shame. :guilty:

I swear they must have a MAJOR LEAK in that pool. I know during one of our trips (may 04 I think) pool was closed d/t a leak.

Thanks SO MUCH for this info! It's the first I've heard about it. I was able to change our hotel to AS Sports, DS's second choice. He would've been heartbroken if the Fantasia pool was closed. He loves it. Plus, if that pool was closed, the Mighty Ducks pool would be a zoo! I enjoy it being quiet!

The best laid plans... My DGF and I booked AS Sports in Sept because few teams will be there and most folks shy away from there because of the noise. So we thought, quiet pool and not that crowded. But with Fantasia pool closed, folks will be swarming to AS Sports. Oh well.

*whew* I am SO happy we switched to Pop a couple of months ago. My DH wouldn't have been able to make the hike to the other resorts and he's not quick enough to stay out of the way in crowded pools.

Though if this means Pop will now fill to capacity, maybe I can talk him into upgrading to CSR finally . . . . :teleport:

thank you for telling us - I am bringing my IL's for the first time for them since 1988 and I would have been devestated if the pool had been closed. I just switched to Pop.
