Is it too late to get a flu shot?

I am taking my 16yo dd into the Minute clinic at Kroger for a sports physical. She seems to struggle the most with flu type symptoms at this time of year. Is it too late to have them give her a flu shot or the flu mist?

Both my husband and son were to the dr. last week..and before they left were asked if they wanted the H1N1 and regular flu shot. My husband asked if there was any chance he could get the flu from either of the shots and they told him no. The dr.'s office had very limited supply of both earlier in the year. Apparently they have no difficulty getting it now. They were offering it to all patients who come in now.

The major flu season lasts up through April with the peak being Jan through mid-March. The flu shot takes about one month to work, so you do the math.

I find it funny that they can hardly give these flu shots away now. They've been offering at work now for free and no one wants them...

I'm not sure if the shot would help with whatever these "flu type symptoms" are that you are referencing. If she just feels off and gets minor illnesses this time of year, it's not going to help that.

I do not think it is to late to protect them. The H1N1 vaccine takes 10 days to be fully effective. I think it is 2 weeks for the seasonal flu shot to be effective.

I'd get them. The one time I got the flu (1988) it was in mid March.

Not too late. We vaccinate at work thru April. It is the Board of Health requirement.

Our whole family has already received both vaccinations (seasonal flu and H1N1). If we hadn't, I would not hesitate to get them now. They both take about 2 weeks to become fully-effective. I heard reports that another H1N1 flare-up is being predicted for April. Now would be the time to get vaccinated for it if you want to.
